I am 26 with PCOS, i have after a two year gap decided to take Metformin despite the side effects., I along with my hubby would like to concieve soon. However despite my GP's seemingly unwillingness to really help and acknowledge of any problems, have decided to join this site in search of guidance and hopefully a kind ear.
I have pretty much all yes its true all the symptoms and boy can it be a pain. I have in the last five months had another side effect which no one has been able to confirm is a side effect of PCOS. For Fuve months i have had a continual bleed. Every day i have had to use a pad and am getting depressed with this. I am wondering if this is infact a common side effect of PCOS as i have yet to find anyone else with the same problems.
I am so depressed about it as it is starting to have an effect on my self esteem, and ultimately effecting my relationship. I am now very broody but mostly concerned about my bleed and my GP says there is nothing i can do appart from take the metformin. Any suggestions are welocome also i would love to hear if anyone else has suffered from the same symptom.
I had the continual bleed issue. It was maddening! I hated it. I suggest you go see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Not only can they dx you with PCOS, but they can help you with TTC issues.
And while metformin is one medicine that can help, it is certainly not the only thing.
There are sticky's in the newbie forum about stuff you can give to your doctor.
It educates them, while also letting them know that YOU know what's going on and what can be done. I think this makes it harder for them to brush you off.
Good Luck!

I know this is no help, but I too have had the continuous bleed and am worried about the same thing! I am getting ready to start a family, too, and am really worried about conceiving. I haven't tried met, I am going to the doctor in two weeks. I think that it must be a pretty common sign of PCOS, as I've heard of lots of people who have the FOREVER bleed!

Just thinking about this. My forever bleed was about 6 yrs ago, so I have forgotten some stuff.
This "bleed" is NOT af. This is what I thought, but its not. Since it wasn't af, that blood was just accumulating, which is BAD. This is where the cancer risk comes in.
You need to find an RE. Someone who will do something about it! One thing they did for me, due to the bleeding, was an endometrial biopsy to check for the cancer risk.
Find an RE! They KNOW what they're doing. Well, most of them anyway. :p
