I've been reading over a lot of the posts on the website and I was just wondering if everyone has seen an endocrinologist? I was diagnosed on 2/19/07 by my OB/GYN. He made no comment about seeing an endocrinologist, just a nutritionist. Is this normal? He didn't have much time to answer questions that day, and I really wasn't in the mood. (Shocked, angry, upset, verge of tears, ect.)

I was recently diagnosed as well, and my midwife did not suggest either a endocronologist or a nutritionist (although I'm thinking of seeing a nutritionist anyway).
I was diagnosed by endo. I think that unless your ob specializes in PCOS or is managing your hormone levels you should probably at least consult with one. GL and Welcome to SC.

Amen to that!! If your gyno doesn't specialize then go to an endo! I was dx by my gyno but she specialzes in endocrinology so she took care of all my PCOS needs forever until I moved, then I told my PCP I had PCOS and he referred me to an endo since he didn't feel comfortable treating my PCOS. So, I say if your gyno is knowledagble about PCOS and does your hormone check then it is perfectly normal for them to treat your PCOS and not have to see an endo. HTH
