Hello all. I'm so glad I found this site. I was diagnosed in February but I have a couple of questions. I had my hormones tested (didn't get the exact results but was told testosterone was high), had an ultrasound (no cysts) and had a glucose tolerance test (normal). I have had irregular periods for forever except the short period I was on birth control. I've heard alot about the treatment using metformin and am curious whether that is something my doctor could still prescribe to me. If not, does anyone know what the other options are. Besides birth control. I have an appointment to meet and talk with my doctor but would like to be informed before I go. The only treatments I've been able to find are birth control and met. Also losing weight and excercising which I am working on. Please help me.
Check the newbie road map for information. Also check out the medication forums for info on BC pills, met, and other good stuff. Welcome to SC!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome. It's definately a good idea to be prepared, know a little information, and have some questions in mind when you see your dr. As other women have said, the newbie road map may help you.

Hi and welcome,
You should get the exact numbers of your bloodwork for starters.
If you have high testosterone, Spiro/Aldactone can lower it.
Met might regulate your periods, and it might not. It dind't for me but it does for others.
Try to get your results and let us know your numbers, and what are your PCOS symptoms?

Bailey - I will definitely get my levels. Also, my symptoms were basically no periods when I went to the doctor in February. I have a couple of skin tags and I am overweight but I haven't had any problems with hair loss or facial hair. And I believe that I am ovulating but that is only with observation not any sort of fertility testing. I have been reading alot of the other posts and did go to some of the links on the newbie road map. I'm learning so much and hope to get this under control so dh and I can have another child.
