new and confused When I was 20 I was diagnosed, during Air Force basic training of all times, with cystic ovaries. Later on when I was frustrated with getting no where with miitary docs and thought I may be pregnant I went to a civilian doc. There they done a ultrasound and found my ovaries covered. along with my irregular periods she diagnosed me with PCOS. I was on and off BCP and Patch for about 5 years. BC makes me depressed. The patch was better but not much. So I tossed them out. I remarried in july of 06. At that point we quit trying to prevent pregnancy. We have been actively trying for the past year or so. No fertility meds or anything just good old fashion trying. But this was all to no avail. That is until june 30th I started having immense pains, worse than any menstrual cramps I had ever experienced. I immediately thought I was having a miscarriage. We went to the ER that night and my HCG was at 800 so about four weeks along. I did in fact miscarry. When I went in for my follow-up last week i told him about my past diagnoses. He did another ultrasound and examined me and said he just didn't think I really had it. UGH!
So here is my dilemma. I have been diagnosed before and had heard of the glucophage and really wanted to try it. I want to exhaust all other options prior to simply treating symptoms with chlomid.
Here are what I think are symptoms. i am 28 and generally healthy.
1. irregular periods 4-6 a year
2. acne-mostly face but my neck and back do break out sometimes.
3. weight gain, I have always been slim at 125 and 5'5" but have gained about 25 pound and it is all in the middle. Think frog body.
4. Don't have excess hair growth but I inherited the lack of body hair from the native American side of family. Never had much hair anywhere.
Other than these "classic" symptoms I feel I must include the fact that type 2 diabetes runs rampant on my maternal side of family. not to mention the miscarriage after 2 years of unprotected sex.
Here is what I think, but I am no doctor. He found no cyst on my ovaries but I truly think he would now because my right one hurts. So if he found none that was his main reason for refuting the past diagnoses but would I even have cyst if I just spent the past month pregnant and hadn't "tried" to ovulate? Second, Must I present the excess hair growth and discoloration? I mean don't symptoms present in different ways. And WHY would I lie?
Should I try a new doctor or simply ask for more test? If I ask for more test what should I ask for? Is there anything I can simply get at GNC that can help? |
