Hello I was diagnosed with PCOS almost a week ago. After having had an irregular cycle for the first 2 years I went on BCP. I went on it mainly to prevent pregnancy not realizing there was any problem. After having been on BCP for 8 years I went off back in Sept 04 a few months after getting married in July. My DH and I were not TTC just yet but thought I would go off BCP and see how my body reacted. I went 3 mths w/o a cycle and was put on Provera to induce AF. After that another 2 mths and I had to do the Provera again. I was finally referred to RE who I saw last week and she gave me the diagnosis. After researching PCOS I have had many of the symptoms from the beginning. I have been prescribed Provera to take every 6-8 wks to induce AF until DH and I decide we are ready to TTC. I went for bloodwork today to check my insulin and glucose levels. I am not overweight but have noticed since going of BCP I have gained about 10lbs. Any suggestions on this? Any information that would be helpful to a newbie is greatly appreciated.

Hi! Welcome to SC! Have you talked with your doctor about going on Metformin?

I did not cycle on my own at all before I went on the Metformin. It's been a great help to me in a lot of areas.

The best thing to do is do a lot of research about PCOS and take that information to your doctor. You will find a lot of helpful stuff on here and there are quite a few books on PCOS as well.
