Question New Cyster looking for best diet plan for a thin cyster

I was diagnosed this past week with PCOS and there seems to be so many conflicting opinions on what diets work best. As thin cysters our goal is not to loose weigh so much as to make ourselves healthier and lower androgen levels and the like.

What diets have worked for others?

Very Confused

All that are a healthy balance of nutrients will 'work'.

There's research on this here>> QUICK LINKS: Info on BEST DIET FOR PCOS (links to research)

The very last link on that page is a free PDF to a low glycemic plan.

A healthy one that's low on bad carbs! Your diet should include fish, eggs, lean meats, nuts, oils (olive & flax/fish), seeds, beans, greek yogurt, veggies, apples & other GI (see the GI Index) approved fruits, whole milk (although some women aviod this), brown rice, whole grains, buckwheat and loads of water.. Eat organic whenever possible & eat every two to three hours.. You can drink spearmint tea, take maca, saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil to lower androgens and you can also get your doctor to prescribe you an anti-androgen. Also be sure to take a good mulit-vitamin.

Hope that helps

Basically what the previous post said is what my RE recommended to me as well, except she gave me the name of the "diet" - South Beach Diet...she said since I was already in the thin category, I didn't need it for weight loss either, but just to eat healthier and get rid of all the bad carbs. I started reading the book last night and it does sound like it really works...but I haven't really started the diet yet (our dinner last night though was low carb and still yummy!). Best part is, you get 3 meals a day with 2 snacks (one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help, guys. I have gotten a bunch of low GI diet cookbooks out of the library and I feel like I am eating a fine restaurant all the time with all these unusual food items. Guess the only way this is going to be difficult to stick with is financially. Poor college students don't make much.
