Hi! So first of all the appt. is june 26th. I am seriously considering yasmin. Here are my lovely pcos side effects, 85 pounds overweight(mostly my fault I am sure), Scalp hair loss, facial and "other" excessive hair growth, NO PERIODS EVER UNLESS INDUCED, tired all the time, irritable, but no problem with acne. Anyone have any good ideas?
Birth control pills tend to be a personal decision because everyone's body reacts differently to them. Tends to be a lot of trial and error in order to find the one that is a perfect fit. However, you will see a couple of popular ones, like Yasmin or Diane-35, on these forums because they contain low doses of spironolactone and cyproterone acetate respectively. Those have mild anti-androgen qualities.

Hi butterfly.emily
I seem to have tried a lot of BCP's I can bearly remember all the names. Most seemed to give me a period every 2nd week.
I took Yasmin just after my DS was born the side effects for me was intolerable migranes, hence I could not get out of bed, although I have friend on Yasmin and she is fine.
It will be a case of trial and error to find one that is suitable for you.
Regards

Yeah, I think I was on yasmin when it first came out but I don't remember. Thanks! I hope I can get it right. These other treatments are so expensive they want 200-300 bucks just to sit in their office!!!!

Yes I know it can be pricey. I had chinese herbal medicine for about 6 months and it did help me get a cycle back, plus seemed to clear out all the hormones i'd been taking. However, i couldn't afford it for ages and my gynae said although they do work (estrogen in plants encourages af) i may as well use a bcp for free (in UK).
I would recommend finding a local reflexologist. I used to pay only £30 for about an hour and a half with her, and homeopathy was included in the price. It de-stressed me and helped me emotionally as well. And AF wasn't as painful either. I went on Yasmin a few months later and was really ill on that, then tried Marvelon/Desogen again and it was good, but now I'm soon starting Cerazette mini pill (Desogestrel) as i get migraines on bcp.
We all have different experiences on different pills. If you can work out what your worst symptoms are, choose a pill that tackles them first. Give it at least 3 months (unless it makes u terribly ill) and have a review with your doctor or gynae.
spironolactone is often prescribed along with birth control pills. I've been on Spiro and bcp (Estrostep then switched to Reclipsen) and it has worked well for me. Good luck
