Default New to Cysters...Met question

Hi everyone, I'm new to the PCOS club as I was just diagnosed this week. maybe I'll explain a little background first before asking my question. We've been TTC for a year and just met with an RE Tuesday. I had an u/s, and blood work. Results came back that I have PCOS (about 25 cysts per ovary!) my testosterone levels were slightly elevated (66) but other than that, my thyroid, prolactin were fine as well as my uterus didn't show any abnormalities or issues. On Mon I need to get my glucose tested as well as my lipids. She suspects insulin resistance. She mentioned that depending on the test results she may prescribe metformin. I'm on CD 16 and of course no O in sight...I'm supposed to wait until CD 35 to take hpt and then progesterone to induce my period (as I go for months w/o af). Then CD 3-7 clomid 100mgs...My question is, if i am prescribed metformin, how long does it take to take effect? If I begin taking it around CD 20 will it be enough time to affect my next cycle? Thanks so much!!!!!

not really too many, but for the past 5-6 years it has felt impossible to keep my weight at a normal balance. i have always been in good shape, typically on the smaller side naturally, but i have been fighting to keep off these unwanted pounds that have been sneaking up on me for a while now. i always get complete discomfort after eating lots of carbs and have had mild spells of depression here&there. ever since i've started the meds though & changed to a low sugar diet, i am feeling so good & i have been losing some weight too. through reading my former obgyn blood work results for me & doing an u/s, plus just asking me some questions--he figured it out. i am praying for the best:-) hope this was helpful~
