New and devastated
Hi,
I am new to this board and for the first time I have found people I can relate to. People who can understand why I dont have boyfriends (due to fearing showing my gorilla legs..) why I am depressed,(am on Zoloft) not to mention my severe acne I sufferd from for 13 years...I dont know if to laugh or cry anymore, I do both. can someone help me? Live in sweden at the mo but am a student in bristol uk and will be back the 15th of sep. Are there any cysters in bristol? in sweden? can someone recommend a good doctor in the bristol area? am horrified as my last doctor in bristol told me to "just shave my legs and stop whinging since the real problems will begin when I will try to concive..." I politely told her that with my complex and low self esteem I will never ever even have the chance of conciving unless its me and virgin Mary.... Can someone please guide me, suggest medicine, treatment, diat etc? I would be most grateful since feel so lonely with this. I promise to give you all my support in return
lots ot love
carro
Welcome to Soulcysters, there are lots of friendly ladies here!
I'm sorry I don't know of Doctors in Bristol area, but you shouldn't have to put up with comments like that! Certainly PCOS is a problem when trying to conceive, but self-image is so important when dealing with day-to-day life. Maybe someone else here can recommend a doc??
My current medication is Metformin 1000mg per day, and Fluoxetine 40 mg per day...as you see, depression is a problem for me too!
I am afraid that many of us have trouble with our doctors. You have to take quite a pro-active approach to your healthcare.
Use this site for information. There is loads of info on medication, diet, etc. I printed off a load of stuff, dumped it on my doctors desk, told him what medication I wanted....and got it!!
I am afraid that sometimes it is the only way. Certainly don't put up with the way you were treated last time!
Hi Carro and welcome to Soulcysters. You will find lots of answers. Have a good look round all the forums and ask plenty of questions - there will alwyas be someone who can answer them!
I hope to see you around the boards.

Thank you girls for your replys, its great we have a littleuk section, so we can help eachother and keep eachother updated, am! What medication do you lot recommend? Am not overweight, excessive body hair I do have and my ovaries from the last ultrascan was pretty bad as they put it. Will have my bloodtests done next week. Am afraid though they will miss something as they dont seem to educated with PCOS in sweden (am here over the holidays) Are there any tests I should ask for in particular? Have been on Dianette for 1 1/2 yeats with no visible improvements. Appreciate your replies girls,
take care
love caroline
I personally have 'the hair' too, and my Endo has given me Spironolactone, which I take first thing in the morning.
