Hi everyone!
This is my first post as I was just diagnosied on Friday. I actually do not believe that I have PCOS, which is why i'm here, to get a little bit of clarification. I had a LAP on Jan. 12, then went and saw a fertility specialist rec. by my mom. The spec. diagnosied me.
I guess what I'm wondering is, I've been on BCP for 2 years and had a regular cycle-28 days... from what ive been reading, those with PCOS don't have a regular period... am I wrong in assuming this?
The doc said the I am ovualting but that the egg is attaching to my ovary, thus causing cysts.. How do I make the little egg go where it's supposed to go????
Hey, Robyn! I was confused too when diagnosed because I also had regular 28 day periods and I still ovulated. What I have discovered is that most research leads you to think that you cannot ovulate and have PCOS, but I am a living disagreement. My situation is that all the "surplus" eggs don't go where they're supposed to and become cysts. Sorry I can't be technical, but that is my situation. Also, I've read repeatedly and completely agree with the thought that every woman's PCOS is unique. No two women will have the same symptoms or lack of symptoms.
Anyway, good luck on your journey! Best wishes!

Some women with PCOS are regular with birth control pills, some get AF regular without (like me). Some don't even have cysts on their ovaries. Some get back "normal" lab results, but still have PCOS. Some have trouble ovulating, some don't.
Thankyou both for your replies... The only reason I was wondering was because even before BCP I was regular- I don't have any of the other symptoms either.. BUT, now I'm scared because I have just started the 2ww.... hoping that this is a miracle ovulation.
Hi there
Are you still on the pill? I think the pill can effect your test results / diagnosis.
I know that sounds stupid, are you on the pill and you're in the 2 week wait but I think how long you have been off the pill can effect blood work etc.
Brooke
I ended up forgetting my pill in december, then started again Jan. 5, had a LAP done Jan 12 and the doc wanted me off the pill. Got d/x on Friday, but without bloodwork-the doctor (different from the one that did the LAP) just noticed the cysts and the removal and did u/s. He came to the conclusion that it must be PCOS. No blood work done.
Everyone's symptoms can be diffrent. My mother has PCOS, and had 3 children without medical help. It didn't really show up until her late 30's. She had heavy periods, but always like clockwork. I'm in my 20's and was Dx in my teens. I don't have regular periods, and my body is a mess. I guess it's all to do with the person's body.
