Hi! I was finally diagnosed after going off of the bcp in November and having no period. I was on the pill for 9 years because every time i went off of it, i never got my period so the doctors just put me back on it! I like most you, do not fit the stereotypical pcoser! I am very nervous and overwhelmed, as my husband and i really want to have a baby soon!!! I am very fit 5'3 and 125pds with just a little hair growth on my chest, pretty normal labs, though elevated LH andcysts seen on ultrasound. I am on day 3 of metformin and am praying for good results. Has anyone out there gotten pregnant on metformin? How long should I expect results? I am so anxious and emotional and am looking for a little reassuance. My husband does not seem to understand, and all of my friends have babies! Thanks for listening! Any advice about anything else i should be doing would be great! I already eat pretty healthy, but have tried to lower my carbs even more? Thanks so much! A scared newcomer
((hugs)) welcome to soul cysters. I'm sure you'll love it here. Everyone is so friendly and there's so much to learn.
See you around the boards

Welcome to Soulcysters. I am sure you will find a lot of information on this site. You mentioned your doctor put you on metformin. Are you insulin resistant? What dosage are you on? I am insulin resistant and I have been on Glucophage XR (1500 MG) since December 2001. I have always had normal periods, but I was not ovulating. I have ovulated every month since I have been on Glucophage XR. You have a great advantage over many women, because you already know you have PCOS. It took over 2 years to get my diagnosis. It wasn't until I went to a RE that I was diagnosed. Don't be scared, just find yourself a good RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). That should help out tremendously and set your mind at ease.
Thank you for your support!! I actually saw a RE who did the final diagnosis and he was so nice!! I am not IR, my insulin was 3.5!! Do you by chance know if glucophage works on someone who is not IR? I actually went to my gyn today because I had awful pain in my lower abdomen, and thought it may be a uti. She did an ultrasound, and thinks either i popped a cyst (new for me) or am ovulating? Who knows--i am still in over my head, but am trusing my doctor!...and people like you! Thank you so much for your time and good luck!
