Default New Doctor vs Setback

I am so frustrated. I have a "Nurse Practitioner" whom I have been seeing for the last 3 years , pretty much since my diagnosis.

At any rate I told her my back story. I have a sister that is handicapped as a result of immunizations. Because of this handicap and their experience, my parents were very leary of doctors and medications. Ingrained in me is a desire to be treated through natural remedies whenever possible. If the natural remedies are exhausted then i would go to the medicinal route.

The problem is that is not how doctors work, all they do is push their medicines irregardless of their side effects. I scoured through the alternative remedies section printed things out and took them to my appt yesterday. i told her i was interested in other options than just pills. She didn't give the pages more than a minute's notice. Suggested Metformin and then told me that she doesn't really work in the natural remedies, despite her telling me contrary in my very first appt.

I've reduced myself to listen to her for the short term. She's got me on BCP even though we are TTC. She says that I might O on my own if I take the BCP and then stop taking it at the end of the packet. I don't believe that will happen. Then we can try Clomid. Based on the calendar if by November we are not Pregger then we have to stop until April.

Do I find a doctor that is more in line with my principles? How long does it take how many doctors do I have to see. What will my insurance put up with. I am so frustrated.

Do you have access to a naturopath? Your NP's tool box and training isn't extensive enough for her to confidently help you with alternative options, just not the cup of tea for western medicine. Just because she says to take a particular Rx doesn't mean that you must do it. You can take control and research the alternatives and carefully introduce them into your plan... and she can help with monitoring via blood work to make sure nothing terrible happens. It is your body and your responsibility, Dr's are only there to help... kind of like a mechanic for the body, but ultimately you are driving your car. Maybe you can ask the NP if she knows of a qualified person who can help with alternative remedies...
