New Doctors and PCOS I am going to school right now to become a medical assistant and my anatomy teacher happens to be a doctor (well almost a doctor). He has just finished Med school and will be starting his residency this summer.
We were having a lesson on endocrinology and the subject of insulin resistance came up.
Of course he told us that people get insulin resistance because they eat bad foods and are overweight.
well, being a cyster, you know I wasn't going to stand for this.
(He is a realy good teacher and is always willing to answer questions and discuss things with us) So during A break, I started telling him that I was unsulin resistant and I had PCOS. I explained the symptoms and how many women with PCOS have insulin resistance even when they have a good diet and excersice.
I could tell he was very interested in what I was saying and he said in medical school he remembered having about a 15 minute lecture on PCOS and it was never discussed again.
He said he was realy interested in learning more about PCOS and asked me for some web sites were he could get information. (Of course I pointed him to Soul Cysters and some other good sites)
I was overjoyed that he wanted to take the time to learn more about PCOS.
Also, he hasn't decided what kind of medicine he's going to practice yet, so who knows, maybe he'll become an RE.
