My Dr just called. I was diagnosed last week with PCOS. They took additional bloodwork that apparently came back really odd. Dr believes that I have a "tumor, probably non cancerous, on my pituatary gland'. OK, this is major?!? I think? Is this common? I am feaking out a little (OK -- A LOT)
I have been put on Met (500 mg a day -- which seems low?), BCP...would this possibly take care of a tumor or is surgery in my future.
I don't know anything about what kind of treatment you'll be facing, but I just wanted to offer up ((hugs)) ... I don't blame you for being freaked out, if my dr called with news like this I would be frightened as well. Are you scheduled to go back and speak with the doctor soon? Hopefully he/she can give you clearer feedback on what's going on, and what procedures they will need to do. In the meantime know that we are thinking of you!

Hi,
Welcome to SoulCysters. I don't have much advice, I just wanted to send you some cyber (((HUGS))) and let you know I am thinking about you. Do you know what was tested that came back abnormal? We could probably help you out more if we knew what it was that caused your dr such concern.
I would be freaked out too. If it was something life threatening, the dr would have had you come in right away. Hopefully it's something that can be solved quickly and with minimal discomfort and disruption to your life.
Hang in there and keep us updated~

Dr said my prolactin, insulin and androgen levels were "off the charts". Not sure what all that means. I will be going in tomorrow morning for an MRI and further blood tests at the hospital. It was the earliest she could get me in. My Mom is flying in tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving. I have not told her yet. We just moved away from her for the very first time. I am an only child and she is taking our move rough.
Dr said that we would talk about treatment options "after we establish a prognosis". Sounded bad, but she said not to worry.
Welcome! Try not to stress until you have your MRI and bloodwork redone. When I started going to my endo this year and she ran all of the tests my prolactin came in very high. I was sitting in her office and shes like your prolaction is high you may have a small tumor on your pit but we can treat that with meds etc and proceeds to go on with everything else that was abnormal about my tests (extremely low Vit D levels). I was scared witless and made her go back to the tumor issue. Had more bloodwork and the MRI and I am fine. That was 6 months ago. We'll see what the latest round of blood tests came back with.
So try not to stress and talk to your mom about what is going on.
