Hi everyone! I'm new to posting on this forum and really want to talk to others about their experiences. Here's my boring story:
I've been through several Dr and all had different ways of "fixing my problem". It all started w/ having my AF for 3 mos. straight. I was gaining weight but thought it was just college life. The 1st Dr put me on birth control. Periods straightened out but my weight climbed, acne flaired up BIG TIME. Took the pills for couple years then quit. Then the weekend before I was to start myfirst day of work at a newspaper, I was hospitalized w/ fever, unbearable pains on my right side. After a probal sonogram (which I don't suggest anyone try while in pain) - turns out - PCOS and my cysts had ruptured and caused a major infection. That Dr put me on BC again. Went on, gaining weight, bad acne for about 4 years. I then noticed I felt tired and my sex drive went way down for no reason. Decided it was time to stop the pills. By then I was married to my high school sweetheart and was ready to TTC. Tried for 2 years and nothing. Went to a Dr and he started me on Clomid and told me I'd "Never get PG being so overweight" (his wife ran a diet clinic in the hospital and he thought he could rope me into that. Didn't work.) But, I tried the clomid for a couple of years charting every temp, sex, sickness etc. and after he tripled the dose - I finally ovulated! Then he drops the bomb.....he's closing his practice and moving overseas. He was not a good fertility Dr anyways. He never once asked my husband to come in and get checked. He never explained things. When I did ask q's, he kinda acted like I was wasting his time.
I also told this Dr all the good things I had read on the internet (including this forum) about Met treatments. His words were "I don't believe in fad treatments". ARGH! So, he closed shop and I was left to my own. All this and my niece (the first baby in our immediate family) was born. Oh, man that made the biological clock tick louder and louder! This summer, we found out a family member was PG and having a baby but could not keep it so we are in the works for adopting the baby which we found out this month will be a girl. So, this past Nov., I went to see my PCP for a bronchitis spell and he looked on my chart and saw the PCOS. He asked me if I'd ever tried Met and here I am, hoping to get PG, get control of my weight and clear up the acne. I'm sorta hoping that those go in the opposite order (acne, weight then PG) because when this adoption goes through, I really don't know if we can handle 2 little babies.
So, that's my story. I hope it helps some people and enlightens others. Please tell me if you've had any similiar experiences.

Dx 1996; TTC for 4 yrs (not really trying now); Tried Clomid for 2 yrs, no luck. Finally found Dr that will listen to me about PCOS To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
It works for some and others need extra. My dr. was planning on my being on met and then adding in Clomid but it ended up I didn't need it. Good luck to you.
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Yes, I have a knowledgeable dr now. I just couldn't believe he wrote me a prescription right then and there after years of trying to get my other dr.
We'll see how it goes. I may need to get back on the clomid. But, with my luck, after years of trying and now adopting a baby, I'll get PG right away!
Thanks again and look forward to chatting w/ everyone.

I am glad you have a new doctor who knows and understand PCOS.

You're telling me. It's like I saw all kinds of people on this forum and people around town who had doctors who understood but not me. I'm just glad he's gone.
