Question New to forum with questions.

Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I've had excess facial hair which got really bad when I was around 20. At the time I also developed bad acne. I saw a derm about the acne, which cleared up with some topical meds, but I didn't bring up the excess facial hair issue, and I've never had the courage to ask any doctor about it. It could be hereditary because my aunt also has had issues with facial hair. The facial hair hasn't gotten any better, but I have found good ways to manage/remove it.
Now I'm 32, and I had a baby last year. I had a dermoid cyst removed a few months after giving birth. It was discovered during a routine u/s when I was pregnant. Does that type of cyst have anything to do with PCOS? Maybe it's my imagination, but it seems like my facial hair is less of a problem since the cyst was removed. Could that have been contributing to the excess hair at all?
Other than acne (which I no longer have), the excess body/facial hair, and a pot belly (which is now mostly leftover pregnancy flab!), I have no other clear symptoms of PCOS. It took me close to a year to get pregnant but I think that's about average.
Would you recommend that I get tested for PCOS? If so, should I start by going to my GP or do I need to see a specialist right away?

Thank you!

Hannah

Thank you eva. I'm in the U.S. I'll call my GP and see if I have to make an appointment to see her, or if she'll just give me a referral to a specialist. If I do have PCOS, I'm not sure what medications I'd be able to take because I'm still nursing my son and hope to continue for another year or so.
