Default New guy here

Hey everyone,
I am new here, My fiancé was just diagnosed with PCOS, I am in the learn as much as you can state and then I will worry if need be.

There seems to be a lot of unknows with this ___ What is it refered to as? Disease? Problem? Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone I am just not sure what to say!

Well I know she needs my support and I want to be there for her, and that means I need to know what's going on with this thing. She found out about this yesterday, and is spending the day off today with her mother (it was prearainged, not like she is slacking off work because of this), but that leaves me alone to find out what is going on with her. I don't even know why I am writing this right now because we leave on vacation soon and I won't be online there. I guess I just needed to put this out there so I was feeling like I was doing something.

Not sure what else to say or ask, so I will be out looking around this site, maybe that will spawn questions.

Thanks,
John

im sorry you havent gotten any responces from hubbys, so ill have to do

i hope your fiance is on this site too. it doesnt look very active over here on the hubbys board, so ill let you know that what it is reffered to is a syndrome, as in poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

there shouldnt be much need to worry about your df health, it is not life threatening, it really just is a big bummer, and means we have to change alot of our habbits, lifestyle ect ect...
although it can lead to increased risk for life threateneing disease in the future.

there are some really great links to medical info and research stuff if you look around. good luck, and feel free to ask away

Welcome John!

I think it is just great when husbands, boyfriends, and fiances come on here to get more information and find out what PCOS is all about.
A good place to look for information is the "Newbie" section.

Hi John! I just want to welcome you and tell you that it's great to have you here. The important thing is to be there for your fiance and to be as informed as you possibly can. If you read the sticky on this forum it will help answer some the questions you might have. I was diagnosed in 2001. It's a learning experience even now, 3-4 years later. If you want PM or E-mail feel free to do so. I hope your fiance is registered on this site. It will be good for the two of you to browse the site together. You will find that a lot of your questions will be answered.

Good luck to the two of you.

Sorry to be gone for soo long, my fiancé was diagnosed 2 days before our vacation. I had to work the day after, and that is when I found this site. I told her about it and hope she does join the board because it is a great place to get info.

Thanks for all the responses.
John

Hi there John,

First read PCOS 411 page.

Then take a look around...and if you have any questions, ask them.

There is usually some guy here that will pop up and help you from a guy perspective. The guy I am interested in, I sent him to this site several times since he needs to know more what he is getting into, while he is getting to know me.

Bear in mind, there are different degrees of PCOS and also not all "cysters" (what we all call ourselves on this site) do not have the same symptons.

I am glad you are committed to supporting your fiancee. God bless you!
