Lightbulb new hear

hello everyone!!

i am new to this site but i am not new to pcos. i haven't had a regular period since i was a teenager; went to the doc at twenty and was told that getting pregnant on my own would be nearly impossible, but he did not tell me why. so i began researching the symptoms i had and came across PCOS. i received my official diagnosis last year and on new years day, we decided we wanted this baby more than anything.

i began my meds about two weeks ago. i was taking 1000mg of met, but it made me so sick and so tired that he reduced the dosage to 500mg. i recently finished hormone therapy in hopes of bringing on a "normal" period, and of course clomid for days 5-9.

i am glad that this place exists, because it is difficult to explain your situation to those who are not going through the same thing.

I know the feeling. I haven't had a regular period in my life.. with the help of Provera I got a period but my doctor wouldn't give me any refills SOOO I went to a new doctor and she diagnosed me with PCOS, I was put on Metformin and Provera to maybe jump start my periods. My husband and I want to have a baby but haven't been successful as of yet. Good Luck and keep us posted...

Welcome! Metformin needs to be taken up slowly. I know I went through the 250mg (2weeks)-500mg (3weeks)-1000mg (2mos)-1500mg (2 mos)-2000mg and finally hit the dose that worked well for me. Doctors not only told me that I would never concieve unmedicated but that at 25 I probably wouldn't be able to have children. Its a scary thought when you are being told all this. But I am glad that you are here and you have found us. Believe me- we all understand. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk/vent/ask questions etc.
