I am new to this site. I started dating a friend who has been diagnosed with PCOS. I asked her for some websites that would help me understand better, and she quickly recomended soulcysters. It has been a very helpful resource.

Thanks... And for the record, I'm already glad I'm not a woman, because I'd never have started seeing the wonderful girl I'm seeing now... (And she is a Cyster.)

Welcome to SC! It helps so much when your SO is willing to educate himself and do his best to understand what your body is going thru.
On behalf of another SC, thanks for taking the time for her sake to learn more about PCOS. If you ever have any questions or need a male's point of view, my DH visits the boards and I'm sure he would be willing to give you his point of view.

I'm gonna stop looking back and starting moving on
And learn how to face my fears
Love with all of my heart, make my mark
I wanna leave something here
Go out on a ledge, without any net
That's what I'm gonna be about
Yeah, I wanna be running
When the sand runs out

'Cause somewhere, there's a guy interested enough to do some research! Your girlfriend's very lucky to have you - I've been trying to get my hubby here for YEARS.

I have asked my guy to check in here before he was ever my guy...I guess I subconciousness wanted to experiment on him in his reaction. He has made comments about the boards but I don't think he reads here much anymore.
I kind of wonder if I should mention PCOS does make you rather witchy at times and also mood swings from Hades...but then maybe he has already figured that out by now. confused
I think it is great when guys come in here and try to understand their cysters.
I have to say, when I have my mood swings, most of the time I don't even know I am in them till I am out and I am like "whoa...did I really feel that way?":o
I am working to try to cope...the worse is when I can not sleep, like everything worries me and then I break out with zits all over my body.
Then I come back down and I am normal. Sometimes I am so crazy, I pull away from people so I can try to chill out.
Fortunately, most of the time I am cool, especially since I got my insulin reisstance dealt with.
Guys, try to understand your women!
We do try to understand you!

I've got to hand it to you, trudude...that's a great thing to take such an interest in a girl that you just started dating. My wife's stress levels are only made worse by the fact that I am poor at remembering details and therefore come across as uncaring and unaware of her difficulties. Having this forum and trudude as a role model will be a big help in me becoming a better husband. I look forward to becoming more educated on the subject.
Well, thanks, I'm flattered, but my GF was honest enough to let me know about PCOS early, the best I can do is make a concious effort. As I have stated in another thread, lack of knowledge for some of these things have hurt previous relationships.
Just to let you know a few things about me which might give you a better perspective (I am not the perfect male, my GF can vouch for that next time she's here): Diabetes runs in both my Father and mothers side of the family. If I were to be the father of a girl, she would have around a 75% chance of developing diabetes in her late teens to mid twenties. That is something I have to deal with in my life. And also I know PCOS can affect insulin, and how the body reacts to insulin, as well. (I know how, I just can't remember the term.) I like to think of it as something, anything we have in common. It really helps.
And Remember I am not the perfect guy... I'm a little more exciting and less boring than that. I do what I can, hubbies and Boyfriends should do so too.

It's a very nice thing u are doing to come to this board. Alot of men won't do that(not saying that makes them less of a man,so no one get their panties in a ruffle...lol) Every man has their on way to support their cyster!
Things seem to be getting off to a good start here. So the first two difficulties that we're running into with my wife being a PCOS sufferer is:
1.) She's not currently ovulating and is worried about walking the tightrope of fertility (i.e. any little thing might ruin our chances of conception in the future)
2.) What is there for her to eat???? We're both extremely busy: she's in school four nights a wekk (with an hour commute each way) and I work full-time with a LOT of overtime. There's precious little time to cook, and she's not sure what her options are for bringing food to school (no fridges, no microwaves).
Also, on a food sidenote, we were shopping for meat at the supermarket, and non-hormone, non-anti-bacterial stuff is hard to come by. Info like that is rarely on the label. Anybody know of brand names that produce safe meat?
Sorry for the long post...my gratitude for reading this far!
