I was diagnosed yesterday and I am frustrated, cunfused and overwhelmed all at once. My doctor said that eventually I will get pregnant. He also said that I have had this since I was born. I don't understand why my previous doctor did not tell me I had this condition. I had previous ultrasounds.
Welcome to SC- Is your doctor doing something for your PCOS? Feel free to personal message me here I am always open to being talked to!

Welcome Daisy! You've found the right place to be right now! PCOS is most certainly frustrating, confusing and very overwhelming! But, there is lots and lots of information here and wonderfully supportive friends to help you out through anything and everything. What treatment plan does your doc have for you? Good luck, see you around!

Welcome. I don't know why your other doc couldn't diagnose you. All I can say is there are some docs that are better at understanding about PCOS than others.
Take a look around the boards, there is a TON of great info here!! And post away when you have questions!!!!
I agree. I went to several different doctors before I had a diagnosis. Because PCOS is a syndrome, it can be difficult to diagnose if a doctor is not knowlegeable. This board will give you tons of info. If you have any questions, just ask! The ladies on this board are full of information and are just all around wonderful!

Definitely educate yourself on PCOS and its symptoms. Some doctors aren't as "up" on things as they should be regarding this syndrome.
If you have the time, swing by the Research Articles 4 PCOS section of the boards! Very informative and helpful.
Vent away cyster! That's what we're here for!

I also had at least three doctors who saw for related conditions who did not diagnose me. One was a dermatologist dealing with my acne, another was dealing with my hirsutism. Both just told me to go on the Pill. The doctor who finally diagnosed me admitted that she wasn't very knowledgable about PCOS but she knew enough to send me for an ultrasound and some of the bloods I needed. Then I saw another doctor who was great and is doing everything right.
So anyway, welcome, Daisy and good luck on your journey.

I agree, I'm asking myself the same question a lot right now. I guess it's just one of those things.

It is funny how we are all born with this but it takes different points in all our lives to finally figure out something isn't right. Even after we figure that out the hard part is getting a doctor to concur.
