I just found this site a few days ago and I think it's awesome! I feel like my family and friends don't really understand what I'm going through (how could they?). It's great that we can come here and share our feelings and frustrations and successes with each other! Thanks for the encouragement!

I know a couple of people who have been diagnosed, but they aren't as tortured by it as I am, or they don't seem to be anyway. I get so sick of the bleaching and shaving and waxing and acne! I was always beautiful until I blew up like a baloon and got acne and hair in odd places. Of couse, my family and friends say that nobody else sees that but me, and I tell them they don't know what I have o go through just to feel pretty enough to walk around in public! The sideburns and chin hair grows overnight and it's a constant battle to keep rid of it. I have tried tons of diets and just can't seem to drop the weight. Last week, I had been dieting and using my gazelle for 2 whole weeks, and gained 4 lbs! And I would have thought it was muscle except my clothes felt just the same. I was so depressed after I weighed. I had to keep from crying all day at work. It was awful. But it was a bad day, some days are better than others. Thanks for understanding!

Are you taking any meds for PCOS? Metformin works differently with everybody but I'm taking that and I've lost 12 pounds, it was just a thought if your not on it, you might could talk to your doctor about it... HTH
p.s. what part of AL are you from?

I'm not on anything right now. I am going to start the insulite system soon. I have no idea if it will work, but nothng the doctors have put me on has ever done much good. BCP worked for regular periods and helped my acne, but we want to try for a baby in a year or so, so I am off of those now. I will definitely talk to my doc about the Metformin.
The problem is, my doctor who I trusted and was very knowledgable on PCOS took a promotion in California and left me. The doc who took his place is just starting to learn about it and that makes me nervous. My other doc was the first one to ever give me a pap (I was so scared I turned red and was shaking and crying) and the first to see me all the way naked and poke and grope and examine every inch of anatomy. It was so hard for me but he gained my trust and now he is gone. It is really hard to start over again with a new doc, especially one who doesn't now that much about PCOS, he is mostly an infertility specialist. My old doc was that, but also specialized in PCOS and all the symptoms of it, including the HAIR! Oh the hair. That's an ongoing battle for me. I am wanting to find a doctor closer to me that knows about it. I was driving about an hour, but it was worth it becasue he was really good. Now that he's gone, I feel so abandoned...like I'm starting all over.

Welcome to SC. I'm sorry you have to go through and start over with a new doc.
Sometimes it helps to print off info from here and bring it to the doc appt.
I hope youi like your new doc!!
