Thank you all so very much for welcoming me! I feel so special I am the only one in my family with PCOS and I get the worse of the worse remarks, I am so happy that now I can talk with women that have the same problems I have!!
It's hard being the only one w/ PCOS. I am too, in my family. My best friend (in real life!) has PCOS so that helps a lot, we can understand each other. And I'm so thankful for all my cysters.
You're not alone, we're here for you!
Hugs
Jenny

That is so good to hear! I am swelling over here, It is just so hard to explain things to some people they figure you are overweight because you eat to much but I don't so it is so hard to explain PCOS to them....
Before my diagnosis with PCOS, even the docs I saw were rude about my weight. (Well if you'd just lose some weight, you'd start ovulating on your own and you wouldn't have all these problems) etc. Thankfully my doc now is wonderful and one of the things I found out about him right away was that he believes it's hard for women w/ PCOS to lose weight. So when I tell him I'm working hard and losing little, he believes me. And I'll tell you, here at Soulcysters was the first place I posted my pic. It was hard for me to do at first, even though I'd never felt anything but support here, there was that corner of my mind that thought, but what if they look at me and just see my fat. (I know that's irrational but it's hard after years of people looking at you like that). You know what happened though, my cysters immediately responded by saying, Nice to meet you, or, Your family is beautiful. It's so encouraging, I feel so accepted here no matter what. I love seeing pics of my cysters, too, it makes me feel like I'm really "meeting" them!
You're a beautiful cyster, and it's nice to have you here!
Hugs

Jenny, Boy you really have made my day! Yes it is hard with the doctors, It is like they are all so "weight minded" Now I understand your image is one thing, But to be an a$$ hole is another... Thank You for your kind words!
Monique and Jenny,
Oh, I'm another mom of three! I'd love another, but mostly, I'd just love to get my PCOS under some at least slight control. It seems that the metformin I am on is helping (I ovulated! YAY!)...
I do have to say that I am also the only one in my family to have PCOS...but I was just diagnosed, and have just started eating better (low carb/low Glycemic Load). My family hasn't seen me since my dx, although I have told them that the docs have figured out what is wrong.
I will probably be printing out some info to give them. If they complain after that, well, you know what? I don't HAVE to see them (love them though I do!). I'm 5'4", and weigh over 180 (I was at 184 at my last apptmt the end of August--I don't own a scale, and don't plan to, so I have no idea if I have lost any weight yet--been on met since my apptmt...I won't see the dr til the end of Nov).
Anyway, I do hope things get working for you, asap, Monique!

Hi Rachel! Yep I have three I would have liked one more but my body was trying to reject my last child at 5mths preggo but he made it!!and I did not want to risk that feeling of horror again!, I am so glad your meds are working for ya, My sister is a PA and she knows a little about PCOS and she is my greatest supporter(in my extended fam) About losing weight I am scared to death of it, I tried so hard in the pass years and ended up with a eating disorder so maybe that is where my fear is based. I'am 5'10 and I weigh over 300 pds so imagine how bad I need to lose weight, But I am so glad you are losing
