I my name is Kags. I am an ex pat from the UK living in Saudi. I am new to the board and PCOS. I went through a TAH just over a year ago due to fibroids and constantly bleeding. I have had no end of hormone problems since the op and was pretty miffed when I went to see a gynae a few months ago to be told I have PCOS. Why would they leave diseased ovaries behind was my question! Apparantly because I am too young, so have the joys of years of hormone trouble ahead instead!!!! My LH levels were 3 times that of my FSH so my hormones are pretty whacked out.
I was offered the contraceptive pill and sent away after being told to lose weight and eat better!!!!!!! This made me pretty mad as I have been unable to lose any weight despite walking with my 2 large dogs (briskly I might add) every day twice a day, cycling and swimming. I don't eat loads either.
I have a number for an endokrionologist but I am waiting for my insurance renewal to come through first as it cost me an arm and leg last time I went because my Insurance category did not cover me at the time!
I wanted to add that it's not your OVARIES that CAUSE PCOS. The cysts on the ovaries are only a symptom of the Endocrine disruption. The name they have chosen to go with on this one is kind of misleading....
I do think that you should see that Endocrinologist. Really. They will do more extensive testing and open up more treatment options.
I know, I was sent away the same way. Pills, eat better, exercise. I just asked her, "HOW?" I don't suppose some docs are very informative because they themselves aren't very informed. It's irritating, and it is excruciating to wait for that insurance crap. I'm going through the same thing.
Again, welcome, stick around and read read read and post post post.
