Smile New Here :)

Hello everyone, I have been reading all the info on this message board for a while now. I did not want to join until I was confirmed with PCOS. Well that happened yesterday 12/27/2007. Merry Christmas!

My Dr. did blood tests then ordered a pelvic ultrasound that confirmed both of our suspicions. My Testasteron (sp?) level is very high, and the ultasound showed multiple tiny cysts follicles?? on my ovaries.

I am now waiting for my appointment with the Endo Dr. they are going to put me on Met, and Birth control. After reading side effects I am a little nervous! Any advice?

The good thing about all of this is that I am not going crazy! I thought I was..............Hair everywhere, I mean everywhere! I pluck and shave and cry. I thought I did something wrong. So when I finally got Dx I felt validated.

Thank you for being here and I hope to learn alot and to gain confidence through the next "rest of my life".

Hi I don't really have any advice for you. I just wanted to say welcome. I was dxed on Dec. 10th. My first Endo appt is on Dec 31st. My gyn said she sould put me on some sort of meds. More than likely Met because I am also IR. If you would like I will let you know how everything goes and what side effects I feel and all that info. Anything to help a cyster out. I know I am nervous as well not about the side effects becaus eI am trying to get pregnant and I am willing to go through anything, but I am nervous about what the endo appt will be like. I will let you know how that goes and what she does if you would like. When is your appt for an endo? I hope it all goes well. Godd luck

Hi and welcome! Everyone reacts to Metformin differently, some say yogurt gives them a bad reaction, some say salads, some say too many carbs. That last one is me. Ick. Anyway, one thing to keep in mind that the digestive side effects get better in time for the most part and one thing to keep in mind that if Metformin makes you entirely too miserable, you may want to try Metformin XR which is the extended release formula. I switched and it was much less harsh on my system. Don't know about anyone else. I know how you feel about feeling somewhat relieved by a diagnosis. I think about it this way, you can fight against something when you know what it is. Take care of yourself, get all the information you can, this site is a great resource for information and support.

I'm still waiting for my Endo appointment.......... Yes please let me know how yours goes,,, I'm interested in how or should I say what else they may be looking for. As far as the meds, yea let me know how that goes for you as well. It's funny that in order to "feel better" you have to take med's that make you sick. I have 3 girls, so when I found out that PCOS is genetic I freaked aliitle. I was lucky, I had my 4 kid's before age 22, and my onset of PCOS started late 20's. Now I am monitoring my girls......they all have their monthly now!

Hello all,

I was diagnosed last week. This is a great site and I am excited to share and learn! I'm in awe of the postive and supportive safe house here. I'm 24 yo and plan to explore every option available. Tired of being hairy, bumpy, and round. Although PCOS is not a good thing, it does bring some relief to FINALLY know the root of all of these ailments that I have had since 15. It all makes sense now. Not keen on bcp but my husband and I are not ready for kids either. Happy New Year all!
