Hello!
I've been a lurker here for a little bit, but this is my first post. My name is Kelly. I live in WA, near Seattle, with my 5 mo daughter.
When I was 15 my doctor told me that I probably had PCOS and put me on BCP, which didn't seem to help. I'm 23 and I was just recently officially diagnosed and have been taking Metformin for about a month. I just recently found a doctor who seems to know how to treat PCOS. Before doctors have always told me that since I have regular periods and was able to conceive that there is no problem.
I've decided to really start cracking down on my PCOS and I'm so glad to have this site as a source of information, especially since this is such a confusing syndrome. The main symptoms I suffer from are excess weight, facial and body hair, and thinning hair, and I'm tired of all of them.
I'm also glad to have a place for support. Having PCOS has really taken its toll on my self esteem and self image. I'm still trying to accept my body for what is it, but it's very hard when our society has such narrow expectations of how women should look.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here!
