Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I am 29 and have been recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have a 4 year old son who is the light of my life and I have been married to my DH for 5 years. I did not know about PCOS until the diagnosis 10 days ago by my OB/GYN. Very frustrating as we are trying to have another child. I have recently had 2 m/c (August 08 and Dec 08) which brought upon additional testing from my dr. (which came back neg, but she still diagnosed me with it). I am still trying to learn more about this and see what my options are (RE??). Currently I have began Metformin ER and will be doing 8% crinone gel as well.
While I wish we were all speaking under better circumstances, I look forward to meeting and learning from all of you.
Hi everyone :-) I'm doing the same and introducing myself. I lurked here several years ago and maybe had a post or 2, then have been too busy to stay up to date with the site. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 13 years ago, 2 years after TTC on Clomid and having a miscarriage. I started on Metformin and Spironolactone and 2 weeks later found out I was already pregnant. So I went off all meds...decided to go back on them when my baby girl was a little over a year old...lo and behold I was pregnant again. LOL Weird huh? Anyway, when our 2nd daughter was about 2, I went BACK on my meds and have been on them for the past 8 years. Within 2 weeks of starting them I started having regular periods for the first time in my life and the male pattern hair growth (on my chest!) went away. I still have some problems with facial hair and horrible problem with weight gain, but haven't been as faithful to my meds as I should be. This month I actually have had TWO periods and that sucks. I don't know if it's because of my unfaithfullness with meds or maybe I'm starting some pre-menopausal stuff. That's my 2009 new year's resolution...to take better care of ME!
If anyone has any questions about PCOS stuff, TTC, high risk pregnancy...I'd be happy to share some of my experiences.
Hope everyone has a happy and HEALTHY 2009!
It is so reassuring to hear that you have 2 beautiful children. I guess when I got pregnant with my son things were so easy. We got pregnant right away and had minimal complications in terms of health of the baby. Now, things are so frustrating for me. We are getting pregnant almost every month we try (which I know I should be very grateful for) but I can not sustain the pregnancy. I am starting to think if having my son was a fluke in my system and I can not carry. Hopefully the Metformin and progesterone will help. Did you see an RE? If so, when did you seek the additional help? My history is: m/c twins Nov 2000 and Dec 2000 (was going through some serious medical issues and knew it could possibly happen). Had son in 2004, m/c Aug 2008 and Dec 2008 both at or under 7w.
My original GYN wasn't very positive or supportive. I got pregnant a month after going off Clomid, then didn't actually m/c till 16 wks. We changed jobs/insurance and I got a new OB/GYN. After TTC for about a year he referred me to an endo.
Have the doctors ever suggested giving your body a rest after m/c? Just curious because when my sis in law m/c'd (several times) they always told her to wait at least 6 months before TTC again.
Hang in there and I know it's an old cliche but sometimes it does happen when you least expect. :-)

PS--Someone please tell me if we need to move this thread elsewhere.
My OB has told me to take 2 cycles off so I can start in Feb/March again. They also told me that since both were early that wating 1 cycle may be alright but with my m/c @ 7w in Aug I waited 3 cycles before trying in Nov. fell pregnant right away and m/c at 6w. I had just found out I was pregnant the day earlier. Had I not tested, I would have just thought it was a late period. Hopefully the met and progesterone will help.
