New here Hi!
My name is Denise and I was diagnosed (finally) about 4 years ago. It only took 27 years for them to give me an answer! I have 4 living children and thankfully only had one miscarriage. I am insulin resistant, about 100 pounds overweight, have hirsutism (face mainly), and am still looking for the answer to weight-loss. Nothing has worked for me so far. I lose and regain the same 2-4 pounds repeatedly. I have been on Metformin but took myself off after 3 months with no results aside from an offensive odour that was coming out of my body. I am on a fistful of vitamins and supplements to try and level things out. I have decided that I can live with the hair growth and other irregularities but I can't tolerate the excess weight any longer. I try not to ruminate on things too much because I need to keep my mood level to avoid depression. All in all, my experience with PCOS has been pretty average from what I've read. I am currently living on a fairly low-carb diet although I'm not currently counting the carbs. I just really want to lose the weight and am getting tired and frustrated that it doesn't budge. I am incorporating more exercise into my daily routine but haven't apparently reached a level that will induce weight loss. I have had blurry eyes off and on for many years. The doctors have been watching me for diabetes and the opthalmologist couldn't find anything wrong. On my own I have dicovered that carbs cause the blurriness. It only takes the equivalent of three slices of bread at supper time to bring on blurry eyes the next morning. The blurriness would then last for two or more days. My eyes have been fine since I went low-carb. I have also noticed that when I did get pregnant was when I had really good control over my diet and exercise; so, I assume my insulin levels must have been within normal parameters during those times. I did take progesterone and then Clomid to have my first daughter/ third child as I had a tubal ligation and then reosmosis. The doctor had given me a limited time in which to become pregnant before he figured the scar tissue would close off the tubes. The scar tissue never did close off the tubes though as we had a second daughter four years later. We call her our bonus baby. :' ) I had been diagnosed as hypoglycemic as a teenager and felt great as long as I remained on a high-protein, low-carb diet designed for me by a dietician. I have long since lost the paper that diet was written on and have been trying to re-duplicate it ever since. I am 44 now and am nearing menopause. I want this whole thing as under control as I can get it before all that menopausal stuff hits me. I look forward to getting to know all of you and hope my experiences can be of some help to others here. I would be grateful to anyone who can provide me with information to make the weight-loss happen.
Sincerely,
Denise T |
