I was dx with PCOS two years ago. I have been married for 2 1/2 years, and have had baby fever every bit of that 2 1/2 years. Now it is time to start trying, and I am scared out of my mind that I will never get pg. I read everyones horror stories and I just know that will be me. My dr just put me on met, and so the ride begins. It seems that is the how everyone starts and then they try every other thng in the world. I am just scared. What do I do? I want a child despretly. Does anyone have any answers?
Hi, and welcome to SC! I know that having this new diagnosis is scary, but there is hope. I was able to get pregnant within 3 months of coming off bcps, and have a beautiful, healthy son who is about to turn 1! Try to stay positive, and make sure you have a good doctor. Good luck in your journey ttc!
Welcome to SC! I know it can be scary, but there are just as many success stories as there are horror stories. The fact that you know what you're dealing with from the get-go is already a plus. I wasn't diagnosed until more than 1 1/2 years into the TTC process, but once I knew what the source of the problem was, I was able to get proper treatment and was pregnant for good within 6 1/2 months (which is the typical timeframe for most "normal" couples). For sure, not all are that fortunate, but many, many, many women with PCOS do eventually conceive and have healthy babies. My suggestions: To expand a bit on Pamb's great advice, make sure you have a good doctor who is very knowledgeable about PCOS/IF and who is willing to listen to you and be as aggressive (or non-aggressive) as you want to be. Also--and this is key--RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!! Know your stuff so that you will be aware of all of your options and can make the most of your appointments with your doctor by asking informed questions. And, finally, don't give up! There are lots and lots and lots of options for couples who want to be parents. One of them will work for you. It may take longer than you'd like (although not necessarily!), but it will happen.
All the best to you for a short and easy journey to your goal!
Hi and welcome! Here are the Metformin success stories (it's a sticky thread under Metformin). They will definitely give you hope! Best wishes!

I understand where you're coming from in your fear, as I've been married for 7yrs and desperately want a child of my own.
What I can offer to you is to focus on the positives, stay hopeful! and stay out of the Horror stories threads! LOL
Actually, I tried everything in the world first, and then conceived with just Met.
Good luck!
Some PCOS folks have no problem at all conceiving, but they aren't the ones posting 50 times a day around here. As for the rest of the bunch, most of us end up pregnant eventually. You have an advantage because you already know you have PCOS (I didn't find out until after I started ttc), and you are already taking Metformin (some of us have to really fight with our doctors to get that prescription).

I didn't know I had PCOS until well into TTC. I don't have the typical PCOS, so I've been on Femara and Clomid with no luck. My doctor is fairly certain I will conceive on Metformin and I REALLY hope she's right. I'm going on my third month on it, so we'll see! Just dont' give up just yet!
