Hi, I just found this web site. It's great! I was diagnosed in 2001 while ttc #2. Since I had him (he's 2 1/2 now... thanks to the Metformin!) I haven't given my pcos much thought. (I think I have a mild case.) But my main complaints are my irregular periods... I just took provera because it had been 3 months since af. And my acne... I hate being 28 and still suffering from acne!! I'm just looking for advice... I'm thinking about going back on the pill to see if that helps, but I don't want to get depressed or gain weight. Is that possible? My hubby had a vasectomy so it's not like i need it for that reason! Have a great day! Thanks, Leanne
Welcome to soulcysters. I know exactly what you mean, I also concieved my 3rd child on Met and was put on BCP after I had given birth but since I had stopped taking the pill I have no AF and I feel so bloated right now. I also wanted to stop taking it due to weight gain while on it and god knows I don't need that but if its the only way to make AF appear than I just might have to go back on.But please know everyone's body is different and that some of us cysters can get AF with just Metformin.

I was on birthcontrol for 2 years and I gained over 50 pounds. I also have taken everything pills, shots, and patches. I had to be taken off the pill due to the fact that I had my period for 21 days straight. Then it was the shot. That's when I gained the most weight. I stopped getting the shot for about 6 months and then I was put on the patch. I think that was the best form of birth control. I had little to no weight gain, and it helped regulate and make my periods show up. It was nice. So when I talk about birth control I always recommend the patch rather than any other form out there. But tomsqtee123 is right everyone's body is different and it all depends on your body. But that's my opinion.
Hello. Welcome to SC. I have been on BCP since I was dx in 2001. I was planning on going on it anyway, since I am in school and didn't want to get pg. Once I found out, my dr. put me on it for my cysts. I never had a problem with bcp. I never gained weight. Everyone's body is different. Since being on it I don't have any more cysts. So that's a good thing. The last year and a half, I have been taking "Seasonale" this is the one where you don't have a period every month. You take the pink pills for 3 months then the last week you take the white for AF. I love it. I don't have any problems on it. Good luck.

Hi Cysters... I was recently told by my Gyno....that Glocophage works very well for Acne. Anyone else hear that? I've never really had Acne that much throughout my life, maybe a breakout every now and then. But man oh man, these past couple months have been horrible. My doc said the Glocophage and my water pill will do the job. I'm wondering if anyone else heard of this??
Thanks Julie
