Red face New here but not new to PCOS

Hello. My name is Michele and I am new here but not new to PCOS at all. I have to say that looking back the first time that something was a symptom was when I was in High School and a friend told me that I had a "long curly black hair" coming out of my neck. I was motified! I promptly went into the bathroom and plucked that booger out! I never gave it a second thought till another one came back months later. I plucked but it was never really bad. Eventually other things started to happen. But not until later on in life. It seems MY PCOS took it's sweet time to happen but for that I am grateful. I am now almost 40 and I battle it every day.
I have terrible hair growth on my upper lip, directly under my lower lip, chin, sides of chin, neck, side burns, eyebrows and now am starting to get black hairs here and there on my cheeks. It's horrible, horrid, frustrating and embarressing.
I do NOT have a "head" hair loss problem thank God. I have a HUGE FULL head of hair. The only time it thinned out was when I was on the Low Carb diet, but that's getting ahead of myself.
For years, like a lot of other posters, I did not know what this was. My periods were reducing to nothing. I actually went for EIGHT years with none. Not that it bothered me. And I did get pregnant and have a healthy wonderful son when I was 21.
My main issues are unwanted hair growth and overweight. I did start on Glucophage and started low carb and lost a lot of weight and got pregnant. I did however, lose the child due to it having Spinal Bifida and Ancephaly. (Any one else by the way?) But I did get pregnant again the following year.
I have gone through electralysis, lazer treatments, all kinds of hair removers (over the counter) and am now reduced to shaving. It's humiliating and degrading. Not to mention it makes my skin all red and bumpy!!!! Plus I just have to shave again in the evening. I can't go places without taking my razer with me!! And a can of shaving cream! I'm about at my witts end! Seriously! I am on Spironolactone but only 25mG!!!! I was reading about some of you that were on it for a year at 100mg and were getting nowhere. I am thinking seriously about calling my doc and getting it upped. I've been on as of today for a month.
Is anyone out there doing anything more than what I have done? WHat have been the great outcomes? What about the bad ones? I want to hear them all. Please contact me here or email me at frozenglue@yahoo.com

Thanks for listening.
Michele

Hi Michele, I am 25 and have the same problem. If I skipped shaving for one day I would be unrecognisable. I think the Bearded Lady at the circus is just come poor chick with PCOS.
Me and my sister (who is also a cyster) have tried laser treatment, creaming, waxing, bleaching and we still haven't found anything that will work for us. We will keep trying all the new new products and will let you know if any work!

I have no answer to the underlying problems, but as far as the facial hair is concerned get one of the Norelco/Philips rechargeable razors from the men's range -- no more red, bumpy skin and they're quiet and very much easier to slip into your purse than a can of shaving cream and blade razor!
