Hello cysters.
I'm Athena. I'm 23 and after being on BCP for 3 years I came off in April and we started practicing Natural Family Planning. For the first month we were trying to avoid a pregnancy but then in June decided to start trying. Nothing happened and in August I had my annual exam with the gyno. With my long cycles she thought PCOS and had some blood work done. I never actually saw the results of the blood work, just a phone call saying "Yep, it's PCOS so diet and exercise." With NFP I've been charting my cycles and they appear to me normal, just long. So I went to the endocrinologist for a second opinion. He also agrees that it's PCOS and even though my charts look good (thermal shift, usually a long leutal phase) he thinks I'm probably not ovulating. So he ordered some more blood work done and once that comes back I'll go in for another appointment.
For diet I was doing Sugar Busters, but all the "must be whole wheat and absolutely no potatoes EVER" is kinda killing me, so I'm switching over to the IR diet. This works better because I can still prepare the foods Luke likes (he about revolted when the mac and cheese left the house for a couple weeks) but just limit my intake and balance out the carbs with protein. We'll see how it goes.
As for exercise I'd pay good money not to do it. However, exercise is important. I just hate it. So I've started doing step aerobics in the morning. Blah.
And my sweet husband has no idea about weight issues. He's about 6' 1" and weighs 145 on a day he's eaten a ton. He does have a physically demanding job, but he'd still be skinny working behind a desk all day long. He's lucky I don't kick him in the night.
So that's my story.
