I am 22 years old. I have been lurking around here on and off for about a year and this is my first time posting. I have suspected that I have PCOS for quite a while now and I will be seeing an endro on wednesday. Can anybody give me pointers concerning what I should ask him/tell him?
Anyway I can't wait to get this over with. I want to reclaim my life. This "thing" has been dominating since my teen years, I think that this has been a hindrance in my life, not to be dramatic. I'm tired of the facial hair, the body changes.
I have most of the symptoms listed, my most noticable being the facial hair ( I have it everywhere, even on my nose:-() and the body changes. About the same time I started getting a lot of facial hair my body also went from being an hourglass shape to being an apple.
anyway, enough complaining, a part of me keeps hoping. I hope that I can reverse some of the symptoms and reclaim my life.
I can't help u much with those symptoms since i have most of my trouble with other symptoms (not ov'ing, small cysts on legs, etc.)
But good luck to you! Going to a specialist is the first step to helping! I bet once you do that you will start to feel much better, at least mentall if nothing else!

Can I suggest you sit down and write out a little "life history" as such, like a basic rundown of when you noticed things changing, the symptoms you experience, any family history of PCOS like symptoms/diabetes that you know of. Any medication that you have been on, etc.
Also discuss with the Endo what blood tests they are going to be doing, and what medication options they may prescribe if your blood results confirm your suspicion. That way you have time between appointments to do a bit of your own research on your options.
Good luck
I'm sure some others will have valuable suggestions for you.
When I was diagnosed, I just asked for a full blood work to be done. I wanted to make sure that my blood pressure, cholestorol, blood sugar, thyroid, and everything was okay.
Don't be afraid to ask for what you want. I hope the specialist will get you moving to where you want to be!
