Default New here and full of concerns involving sex.

Hello everyone.
I reget not ever coming to place like this. It seems like everyone is wonderful. My name is Eva and I'm 19 and I'm not sure how long I've had PCOS but it was confirmed years ago (when I was in elementary school, I already had serious excess hair growth and weight problems). But I've become really nervous and worried lately.

I had sex for the first time about 2 weeks ago (August 24th -- I was away in Japan). I only did it once and I was protected so I didn't think anything of it. Since I've been back home in America, I started to feel not quite right. I got pain in my underarms and my breasts. I researched about that and found that it could be "breast cancer" or "mono". But I didn't think it would be something that serious. The pain under my arms finally went away but my breasts continued to hurt. I was hoping it would be my period since the last one I got was in June. But I didn't.

I know that the breasts hurt and whatnot when you're "getting pregnant". But I was protected so I don't understand. Recently, around my stomach area is a little pain. At first it was in the pelvic area and I thought I had gas but that kind of went away already. Could there be another reason why my breasts hurt?

I really don't know anything about pregnancy, especially when it comes to women with PCOS. Can anyone explain to me about it? Is it all in my head? Is all the worrying and stressing causing me to make my body feel certain ways? Please, I need your help and advice. I'm supposed to go to the doctors but I'm not sure when the appointment is. I'm really worried and scared.

First off welcome. Having tender breasts could mean a few things. I would suggest ruling out certain things first, i.e. pregnancy. Sorry to say just because you used a condom does not mean that you are not pregnant. And yes, sometimes hard to believe but you can get pregnant having sex for the first time. When O or about to have my period I have tender breasts.

Hi Saku and welcome,

I always get sore breasts before my period. A couple of months ago I had really sore breasts and was convinced I was pregnant but I wasn't. I didn't have periods for almost a year and each month my breasts would hurt and I would think my period was starting but it didn't. But obviously cetain things were going on in there. It was only when I started on metformin that I got my period regularly.

I think if you have any doubts you should take a pregnancy test. At this stage it would probably show up positive "if" you are pregnant (there are some cases where a positive result doesn't show up for a number of weeks or not at all). At least you can put your mind at rest before you go to the doctor, or if you have to wait a while to see one.

Sarah.

Thank you for the replies!!
I was actually able to sleep last night (it was like 6am when I posted) because of you all. Your messages were comforting.

Today I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative. I was really relieved but I'm still not 100% okay. I was lucky enough to get a doctors appointment tomorrow because someone canceled. So I will have a good talk with him and I'll most likely ask for a blood test. I know I'll have to wait for the results for the blood test but I don't think I'm as paranoid anymore.

I think things will be okay.
