Default New here and have some questions...

Hello and I hope everyone is well! I’m new here and need some advice. Some background info on me: DH and I had been TTC for a year and brought it up to my family doc that I hadn’t conceived yet. He ordered an u/s on my ovaries and when it came back they called me and said I might have cysts on my ovaries. He then sent me to the OB/GYN. The day I went to the OB/GYN’s office he was playing golf or something so I saw his nurse practitioner who said yep you PCOS and wanted to put me on BCPs. This struck me as a little counterproductive so I went back to my family doc. (I have to get referrals for every stupid little thing for my insurance). He then sent me to an RE whom I have had a positive experience with so far. She didn’t think I had PCOS because I’m thin, don’t have facial hair, etc and somewhere along the line the u/s that the nurse practitioner look at got lost. They did blood work and my testosterone is just outside the normal range and discovered I’m hypothyroid. I started temping after they told me I had cysts to see if I was ovulating. In the 4 months prior to this month I have ovulated on my own between CD18-21. In my personal opinion I think I have a mild case of PCOS. I did have thinning hair and it actually got a lot straighter than it was, which is a symptom of hypothyroid (the thinning anyway). I’m not overweight, but I’ve gained about 15 lbs in the last couple of years, also hypothyroid. I have light acne, but nothing severe. My thyroid is now in check, but I haven’t lost any weight, I feel a lot more energy my testosterone and estrogen are still a little high. Would being hypothyroid have anything to do with my high testosterone even though it’s under control?

I don't think so. It is still possible that you have pcos, there are lots of us thin cysters out here. I think (some one correct me if I'm wrong) that the high testosterone goes along with PCOS...I am certain that it isn't because of a thyroid disorder...but they are all connected, the thyroid just isn't causing the testosterone to be out of whack.

Sounds like you have both. Thyroid has nothing to do with testosterone. My testosterone has been normal for the last 2 years even though my thyroid levels have been going out of whack. Def keep temping it makes a world of difference when ttc.
