I just went and picked up my lab results from the last tests my doctor did. Unfortunately, they didn't include the TSH from the test BEFORE this one (I didn't realize that until I got home).
Anyhow, I believe the TSH was right in the middle of the range from the lab.
The biggest issue I have is hair loss and the inability to lose weight at ALL. I know these are PCOS symptoms too, but I've also had a TON of symptoms off the list I have seen for hypothyroidism also.
My lab results were:
T3, Total- 166
T3 Uptake- 21 (says it is "out of range", but the doctor said only by like 1 point?)
T4, Free 0.8
If we assume my TSH is normal....what should I do? Does this indicate anything?? I am really wanting to ask my doc to give me the meds and just TRY them for a 3 month period because I just have a gut feeling they might help and that is the problem. I go see her next Friday and want to be prepared.
I'm afraid I can't help with the lad results. Shenacat is the one for that I think!
But I know what you are feeling. I was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago and thought BINGO that is the source of all these symptoms - tiredness, weight gain etc. But I only have a mild dose of PCOS. I was put on Met to try and sort out the symptoms but no difference has been made.
So i too think there is something else going on, possibly a thyroid problem.
You need to post your lab ranges in order for us to properly evaluate your results.
If the TSH is in the middle of the range from the lab, assuming the lab is using outdated ranges, that means your TSH is probably about 3 something. That according to new ranges can indicate hypothyroidism.
If I use lab ranges from my sheets then all your numbers are very, very low and indicate that you need some meds.

The other numbers are useless, but the T4 definitely is too low, period. You do look like you need some thyroid replacement hormone. Definitely point out to your doctor that your T4 is below range, and *should* be at least in the middle of the range.
