Hi! I am new here and this is my first time posting! I just found out I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. My ob/gyn put me on metformin and referred me to another doctor for the hypothyroidism. I was wondering what exactly metformin is going to do for me. I have always had really irregular cycles some 13 months apart, and my last cycle was induced with Provera. Will the metformin help my cycles return to normal?
It might. A lot of women with PCOS do begin having regular periods. Everyone reacts differently to the metformin however, so there is no predicting exactly what will happen for you. It also depends on your dosage and how your body reacts to that dosage. For me, I have always ovulated. I am on the met to help with my insulin resistance and hormone levels. It takes awhile to see results, so please do not give up. I started seeing results after about a year. I mean SERIOUS results. Within that first year, my hromone levels did start returning to "normal."
Check out the metformin forum. There are a lot of helpful threads there. Good luck!

Penguin,
You can find the information on reputation and gifts and such in the Questions Regarding Board Functions forum. It is way down near the bottom of the main page. Hope that helps.
