New here--Long period and Yaz Hey all,
I'm new here. My name is Nikki. Nice to meet you all.
Anyhow, earlier this year i had a weird pain in my lower half of my stomach. I went to the ER that day and was there for a few hours into the late night, and found out i had a ruptured cyst. The doctor gave me a prescription for Vicodin which didn't really do anything for the pain. But i was told i just have to ride the pain out and it'll go away soon.
I was told to follow up with a reffered ob-gyn who later told me i have PCOS. He really didn't tell me much about PCOS, except that it causes extra hair growth, dark patches on the skin, and irregular periods. He also said it could be hard to concieve. Basically i got no information at all.
He put me on Kariva to regulate my periods, but it was messing up my body completely. I had major mood swings, i was always annoyed and tired. I had headaches and migranes and i was just a completely different person. So after being on Kariva for 3 months, he switched me to Yaz.
The first 3 months of Yaz worked great. I got lighter and shorter periods, and i got one every month. Which is good because i was so irregular. My gyn after that appt moved to another city so when he left, i was assigned to a new female gyn.
Last month i went on vacation so i asked my new gyn if it was okay to skip my period by continuing onto a new pack and skipping the placebo pills. She said it was fine. So i did that, but my period still came. I sort of spotted for 2 weeks, and after those 2 weeks i've been on my period now for over a month now.
I'll have my days where it's very light and sometimes it'll stop, then there's days where it's SO SO heavy that a tampon that would usually last me 7 hours gets completely drenched within 2-3 hours. I've also noticed i have a lot more blood clots than usual, and i have horrible cramps. I also have bad headaches, and i have a nauseous feeling in my throat. I've been feeling very sluggish and run down lately.
Also i'm anemiac, well to be more accurate i'm thallasemic. I don't know if that has anything to do with this, but i'm trying to throw out as much information as i can. I also have not been sexually active in over a year now, so there is no way i am pregnant, or experiencing an eptopic pregnancy.
I feel like this is just taking over my life. I've never had this happen to me before. I contacted the triage hotline at my gyn's office, but the triage nurse hasn't gotten back to me yet, and they said they usually call back in order of importance. Is this not important? I'm starting to really worry about this. It's really affecting me. And also the fact that i don't know anything about my PCOS, and wasn't really educated about it either. Could it be a lot worse? Does anyone have any advice? Please help. TIA. |
