Hey, all! I'm Tasha. I'm new here to the board, and I must say that just looking around, so far I've found a wealth of information everywhere, more than I've found any where else. I'm starting to become "un-scared" now!
I had a diagnostic pelvic laparoscopy (I know I spelled that wrong!) yesterday, the second I've had. The first one showed a large cyst on my left ovary that he took off then and there, and after treatment on BCPs, it was better. Well, I went off of them when I got married three years ago, all in an effort to have a child, which hasn't happened. Around Feb of this year, the old pains started to come back, so I went back to the ob/gyn to see what the problems were again. I guess I should back up a bit. In 2004, I had a period in November and then didn't see AF until March of '05 when I was finally given something by another doctor to make me have one, she didn't ask any questions and didn't offer any reasons as to why I was having no periods. Then again this year, I had AF in January and then didn't have one until April. Around Feb of this year, during the AF absence I started to have the old pains of five years ago and sat in the ER for over 12 hours while they ran every STD test known to man to see if that was a problem. No dice, but they did label it something ( I can't remember) which drove me to the old doctor who took off the original cyst 5 years ago. So, after running ultrasounds and a hormonal/thyroid and insulin panel, he opted for another surgery because nothing was popping up.
Well, yesterday, he labeled it PCOS after seeing all the cysts dotting my left ovary and some on my right. I have most of the pain on th left side and always have, that is where the original cyst was removed 5 years ago. He's referred me to an endo doctor, and I'll find more out about the surgery and the endo doctor when I have my follow up appointment in two weeks.
So, I'm scared to death about this, and know that I shouldn't be. It's nice to finally have an answer, even if it's not the best, simply because I've always been the medical mystery.
Through this all, I'm trying to work through what is and isn't an amicable divorce, overbearing family and friends and am trying to keep my job with all the lawyer and doctor visits eating up my leave. I'm stressed to say the least.
Thanks for listening to my story, and I'm off to read everyone else's and soak up more knowledge on this subject.

Welcome to SC. Sorry you are having such a stressful time, but hopefully now that you know you have PCOS, you can get your health in better shape. My sympathies with the divorce too. I am going thru that very same thing, although I am hoping ours can stay friendly, or at least civil.
