Hi all I am new to this site and Iam taking some natural course to help with my PCOS!! I was dx with PCOS when I was 18. I have been ttc for a little over a 1yr. Very depressing to me.
I was taking metformin and i didn't like the side effects at all. I am now taking Vitex and natural progesterone cream along with B6 vitamins and calmag. I got my menscycle on March 4,2008 and had I started charting my bbt kind of late. I am the doing the progesterone cream 14days and then i stop for 14days. So far I am on cd33 and still no AF...
I know that I am not pregnant because I don't have any of the symptoms. I was wondering if someone know a little about progesterone cream??? When I got my AF in march I started taking the NPC on cd14. I noticed that when I did research it said to take it on cd10 to help with ovulation. SO another thing I am wondering is since I took it late did I mess up my AF from coming. I read the information in the beginning and found out that when I got my af I should have taken the NPC when I o'd. Well since I don't know and didn't know if I o'd should I start taking the NPC again to start my menscycle or wait???
HELP SOOOO CONFUSED!!

From what I understand, if you start taking the progesterone before you ovulate, it can actually block ovulation. So, it is best to adjust when you take it accordingly. If you know when you ovulate, then start 1-2 days post ovulation. If you are unsure as to when or if you ovulate, charting is a great way to keep track.
I believe that they say to start on cd 10-12 as a blanket statement assuming that all womens cycles range from 28-30 days, which is not the case at all.
I've been reading through the thread and I feel like a dummy for not understanding how to use NPC, so if anyone could help me I'd be very grateful!
I have not had AF in over a year, and I want to start using NPC to bring it on. I am NOT TTC. I just want to have AF. I'm assuming since it has been so long since I've had AF that I can just start taking it whenever, right? So I take it 14 days and stop (or stop earlier if AF comes). But what do I do after AF comes and goes? Do I immediately start taking NPC again or do I wait a period of time after AF stops?
Lex- if you're not TTC, you can use NPC 14 days on (or stop if AF comes early), 14 days off, 14 days on, etc. That'll bring on AF in close to "normal" cycles. And since you've had such a long cycle I would say you could start whenever. Hope that helps!

Thanks J Rocker! I've been using it since Saturday so we'll see what happens.
Do you think it is normal to feel kinda out of it when taking NPC? Since Sunday I've been having fatigue and nausea. Maybe my body is trying to get things going?
Hi Lexi-
Progesterone is the hormone responsible for fatigue that women often feel in the luteal phase - so it is totally possible that is why you are feeling sluggish. If you are feeling extremely tired, it may be possible that you are taking a little too much progesterone and may want to cut back a little.
Hope this helps!
Jennah
I feel like I've been reading all morning and I haven't even nearly finished reading this thread, so if this has been mentioned, I apologise for repeating it.
I've been taking progesterone cream for a few years now. A local brand, made locally by a pharmacy (I'm in Oz and here the cream needs a doc's prescription). Anyway, maybe it's brand dependant, maybe it's not, but I can't absorb progesterone cream through the skin. Apparently this is quite common. I need to use the cream vaginally for it to work (on doctors orders), then it works a treat. Several times after getting myself stable I've tried it on my skin again and each time my cycle has gone out of whack for about three months or so (even though I only put in on my skin for 1 cycle before changing to vaginally again). Maybe if it doesn't work for any of you, this may be worth a try...
Oh I didn't know some women can't absorb PC through their skin. Maybe I am one of those women! I haven't seen any results with me putting it on my skin. I'm going to try the vaginal area tonight. Thanks!!

I got this feeling alot when during the first cycle I used NPC, so I think it's pretty normal.

I haven't read the entire thread because it's too long and I am on my way out. My doctor just prescribed NPC for me and I will start using it on April 29th. I didn't realize there would be side effects. I thought because it matches identically, there would be no side effects. Aside from a little concern over that I am really excited to start it. I'm not ttc, just trying to feel better and balance out. Thanks for posting this thread. I didn't know you could get NPC over the counter either. My prescription costs $35/mo. I guess I will stick with the Rx because I know it's in the right dose for my body but I'm curious what others are paying for it. I also take bio-identical thyroid medicine and it has made a world of difference for me! I started going to an MD that treats naturally most of the time (unless it doesn't work) about 2 months ago. I am on a pretty extensive treatment plan because he uncovered a lot of things about me that no other doctor could (aside from PCOS). This is the first time in my life that any treatment is making a huge impact in a positive way. I have had other treatments that have made minor improvements (bcp, spiro, met) but this is so AWESOME! I am so glad that I switched from conventional to natural.
