Ok i am interested in this progesterone cream because i suspect i may hav elow progesterone, i had spotting for 3 days (11, 12 and 13 of my last cycle) and then got AF, i read this can be caused by low progesterone and i also had low progesterone when i was pregnant.
So i know nothing about NPC but i do like natural remedies (and imo i dont know the drama but their are huge risks with non natural things we use all the time also )
So my questions:
Can i get a good brand at say Walgreens, CSV or a local pharmacy? do most sell it?
How much is it on average?
How long does it last?
Im thinking i would use it after O until AF shows or until pregnancy is confirmed since that seems to be the problem time.
TIA for your replies
Thanks again Saren!

From what I'm finding, most bottles are 2-oz. (I'm still pretty new at this, too!)
As far as how long it lasts...
2 ounces per bottle
6 tsp. per ounce
1/4 tsp x 6 tsp = 24 applications per ounce
times 2 oz is 48 applications per 2-oz bottle
So it would last about 48 days
A friend gave me a bottle of Arbonne's Prolief, but it was a bottle she'd been using and I wasn't sure how much was left, so I went ahead & bought a bottle of Progesta-Care at my local Vitamin Cottage. I got it for $19.95. As far as Walgreen's or another pharmacy-type store like that, I haven't looked yet so maybe someone else can answer that for you.
The first post on this thread tells you how to use it, so check that out, too! Welcome!
ETA: Copied & pasted portions of this post to the first page of the thread, also.

Hope you're all well. | |

I like it b/c it has measured pumps so you don't have to mess with that. She says she uses it every day except during AF (becasue she's using it for menopausal symptoms, not the same as why we use it), and it lasts her about 2 months. So I would think that using it 12 days out of the month like we do, it would last for 3-4 months.

Points: 233.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 233.15 | First off, my heartfelt wishes of future bundles of blessings go out to all here. I came across this sight whilst doing a search using the keywords "Progesterone Rexall." In my case I am seeking info about this product because I desire to use it for pre-menopause symptoms. It was a spur of the moment purchase as it was right next to some other supplements I was looking for. When I saw the progesterone cream I recalled an Oprah show from years ago, (early 90's), where she swore by progesterone cream. Until I came across the initial thread here about Rexall brand Progesterone I had no idea there was a "good progesterone vs bad" So I'd like to thank you all for your input that caught my attention and kept me reading. I was also inspired to call Rexall myself. I asked what is their Progesterone derived from. The answer: Wild Mexican Yam. Anyway I wish I had the Internet available back when I was trying to conceive. Progesterone may have been the answer. I'm childless. Though I am blessed with a nephew, a niece and her new son who I now take care of while she is at work. Once again thank you for taking the time to share your experience as I have gained much knowledge because it. hoku (star) to me 8/12 |

To my knowlegde she isn't on any additional hormone replacement therapy, so it must be going pretty well for her.

I am not sure what the drama on the last thread was, because I missed it- but anyhow, I ordered my NPC from drugstore.com, it is called "Nature's Bounty Menopause Formula Progesterone Cream". It says it has 480mg of progesterone pepr ounce, but it does not say where the progesterone is derived from. I hope I didn't get the wrong stuff! I have always taken Provera which has given me horrible mood swings and hot flashes-- I have been using the cream for four days now and haven't had any negative side effects. So for that, I am happy.
I am just waiting to see if I am preg or if not, I will stop using the cream in another ten days and hopefully AF will show.
Thanks for the info, Saren! Hugs!

It's bad because it isn't bioidentical progesterone, but progestins and progestogens, which are foreign to the body and can cause cancers.
Natural progesterone cream should say "USP Progesterone" right on the label.
I would throw that Rexall garbage right in the trash. It's dangerous, as are all progestins and progestogens. |

I know that progestins like Provera should not be used in pregnancy, but progesterone in various forms is frequently used with great success. I used Prometrium and later Crinone in my first trimester and had a great pregnancy! So I don't know what you mean by dangerous. Also if you notice a lot of ladies here have done some in depth research on the whole "USP" thing, so it might be a good idea for you to go back over the last couple pages to see what they found out by actually calling Rexall and USP.
