Progesterone is released by your body after you o, so technically, no, NPC will not make you o.

But, and there's always a but , the cycle I got pg, was looooooong. I was temping and using OPK's. I got a + OPK, but never a temp rise. The +OPK was around CD20. I POAS at 19DPO, 22DPO, 27DPO and finally 30DPO before I got my BFP, but when I went in for my first (and 2nd) u/s, my OB said that I was 2 weeks behind what I thought I was. I started using NPC from 3DPO until 18DPO (I POAS before I would have used NPC on 19DPO), but somehow, I o'd while using NPC.

However, that is normally not the case. If you use NPC to start AF after a long cycle, you would want to use it like you would use BPC's - 3 weeks on and 1 week off. If you want to use it after o'ing, you would start around 3DPO until either AF starts or BFP.

I just don't get it! I started NPC again on what I thought was 2 dpo but again NPC seems to make my temps fall! How is this possible? I always thought that progesterone makes your temps rise...

I'm way under my usual cover line value (36.86 C), so there is no way I have O'd yet. But however I don't want to waste my time and wait to O around cd 40-60 again, so, I guess it's okay that I'm on NPC at the moment. I just wish that I get af after I stop NPC - because if I again ovulate after stopping it's gonna be another 50-days-cycle for me.

My body is weird!

i have a question...i haven't seen AF in a tiny bit over a year now so i decided to give this a try. i applied for 14 days, had cramps and nothing happened. i waited 14 days, applied the cream again and now i'm on day 12 of reapplying and still nothing but cramps. is this normal and are the cramps at least a good sign? i'm willing to try again, but this time only wait 7 days this time and maybe apply twice a day to see if it makes a difference. i refuse to go on BCPs so i'm trying anything possible.

also, is this supposed to help with symptoms because even though it hasn't brought on AF for me, it's done an AMAZING job at helping with symptoms. my face is pretty much clear and my facial hair has significantly slowed down. i couldn't believe the improvement on my symptoms.

anyways, i'm starting to get a little stressed out that this hasn't worked as far as inducing AF so any advice is appreciated!

ashley2,
i am not sure, but you may not be using enough of the npc or maybe it is not strong enough? i think the cramping is definitely a good sign...i have only tried it once before and it worked for me around day 14 of using it.

i have a question re npc of my own--i am on CD 63 and day 11 of using npc. last nite i was sooo tired i forgot to use it. is it just better to stop using it now after 10 days and see if af comes rather than re-start this evening?

thanks!

i agree...how much are you using? my dr told me to apply it morning/evening. i was using 1/4 teaspoon at a time, then she upped it to 1/2 teaspoon at a time. (i have the opposite problem as you -- too short of cycles)

well i was using Sayge NPC from GNC the first time but now I'm trying Emerita Pro-Gest after reading about it and i use about 1/4 tsp. i'm thinking though if it doesn't work this time then i need to wait my 7 days and increase to 1/2 tsp. still haven't seen anything yet and monday will be 14 days. i'm still cramping so hopefully it works this time!

Hello everyone. Thanks for all the research. I have a question. I haven't got AF since Aug. I'm not pregnant but I don't really want to take the provera or BCP to get AF to start. If I try the NPC and AF does come on and I O'd do I have to keep using the NPC? Because when I was clomid for 3 months, as long as I O'd my cycle came. The dr. said that my progestrone level after O'd was great. I just didn't get a BFP. So now I just want AF to show so that I try soy to make me O'd. Right now I'm taking vitex.

So I am assuming your goal is to Bleed than O...start fresh

I would take it for the 14 days to make AF visit and then resume with trying to do soy to O and wait on using NPC for sustaining PG, based on your saying your levels were good after you O.

For anyone interested in sharing info re the 3-month shutdown/cleansing using NPC, please go to TTC buddies forum and look for the group Shutdown Oct-Dec (also found at http://www.soulcysters.net/shutdown-...ct-jan-260787/).

More info re shutdown/cleansing program found at:

Mrs JS - firstly congrat's on ovulating!! And for the rest of it, yes, you have it right. The placenta usually takes over progesterone production by 8 weeks, so taking it til the first tri is over is just making sure, which is a good idea. Best of luck to you!!!!

Hello All,

I have a quick question. This is my first cycle using NPC to induce a period. I am on day 9 using 20 mg a day of the cream. When should I 'typically' expect a period, as I know all women are different? When should I stop using the cream? I know its the progesterone withdrawal that starts the period. I was going to use it for 14 days then stop, is that the proper way to do it?

Thanks
