My Mood: Points: 478.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 478.15 | new job, new insurance, new doctor (advice?) Hi! So I just got a new job with benefits that I'm SUPER excited about. I was diagnosed with PCOS about three or four years ago, and have been on and off BCPs since then (mostly on). I am insured again and I can go to a doctor now and see about getting some other kind of treatment, I really want to do something about the hair growth and my insulin resistance and all of that.
Should I go to a general practitioner for this or just go straight to a reproductive endocrinologist? If I went straight to the latter first, should I still have a regular doctor? All of my medical issues are PCOS/weight related.
Thanks! |

Good luck!

My Mood: Points: 478.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 478.15 | Thanks, ladies! I think my insurance will let me go straight to an endocrinologist without a referral, so I will definitely try that. I'm sick of being given blank looks about PCOS, like it's no big deal! |

I have 4 or 5 doctors that I go to, but I'll never stop going to a GP - they're your "all around" doctors. And if you develop another medical problem later in life, your endo might not catch it because your endo only focuses on certain parts of your health.
