My Mood: Points: 881.03 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 881.03 | New and just diagnosed.... Hi there! I too an a newbie and just dx with PCOS after seeing an endocrinologist for 1.5 years! I finally got the guts up to get a second opinion and sure enough, my new endo dx me in my first appointment. Man, I wish I had found her sooner!!! My eyes have been opened to all PCOS is and how it effects so much more than my cycle and gyne stuff. I'm seriously bummed about the connection to diabetes.....don't know how this carb loving girl is gonna survive! But I must do it....I know that now. Any advice on how you went about changing your diet so it stuck? I'm all about refined sugar and processed wheat....I know....I'm in trouble. Anyhow, I have been married to my Beloved for almost 11 years and have been blessed with three DC....all came before my dx of PCOS. But my symptoms of PCOS went haywire after the birth of our third--DD2--thus the search for what was wrong. We live North of Pittsburgh and are building our own home right now. I was also just dx with under-active thyroid at the same appointment as my PCOS dx. So I have a lot to absorb right now....just trying to learn and keep an open mind..... Any advice on how to transition to a good diet to deal better with my PCOS would be helpful. Blessings, |

Hope this helps |

My Mood: Points: 259.15 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 259.15 | I was just diagnosed on Friday and I dont even know where to begin or what to think . It has been constant on my mind since Friday and I cannot get off these websites looking it up to see what its all about and what I should be doing and I am just getting more and more confused. I was married october 07 and since then we have been trying to have a baby. My periods have always been screwy but I went on bc when I was 17 and went off last July at the age of 26. Since December my periods went from 28-35-non existant in March so I went to a doctor friday and there she diagnosed me with PCOS. never heard of it before. So i looked online and saw I guess i have some of the other symptoms .. my face has been alot more oily then usual , I feel like i have to shave everyday , acne breakouts more than usual and I suppose strange hair growth and then of course the absence of my period. For a few months though too I have been feeling a weird dull pain in my lower left abdomen too so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Needless to say my Dr took blood to run some tests and if I am not pregnant **which Im sure Im not ** I will beginning Provera. I dont even know where to begin with that . What is everyone elses experience with it ? Do I then try to get pregnant once my cycle comes back .. how do you use ovulation kits ? I also have to go get a transvag u/s so Im kinda freaked about that .... guess I reallly cant think much until i get my results but I just wanted some advice or other peoples experiences when they were newly diagnosed. Please help thank you |

It's all about eating the right carbs instead of the wrong. there is a forum here for the gi diets and other diets that has worked for lots of people. or u can search low glycemic index diet. U can actually have fruits pastas breads but just the right kinds and the right portions. take care ladies and lots of luck to ya <3

My Mood: Points: 13,611.90 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,611.90 | Welcome to SC! I have been dx for 10+ years but just found this forum recently. Until the last year I was not dx as IR as well. Previously I used "Body For Life" to control my weight. I have included the link below if you would like to check it out. Since my big move to the island, I have stopped "Body for Life" and since been dx as IR.
I have been watching my carb intake, but have not completely cut the carbs. This has helped me lose 26 lbs (over 8 months). Hopefully after my post-op exam on Friday I will be able to add exercise.
Take a look at the link: http://bodyforlife.com/
Good luck!

My Mood: Points: 13,611.90 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 13,611.90 | Jess,
My experience with Provera was just to induce your cycle. My dr stopped giving it to me once I started to have cycles less than 60 days apart. (This has been the last 3 years). Take a deep breath and get the tests. Personally, until all the testing is complete, I didn't think about becoming PG. But I did continue to "practice" at it.
Take care! everyone here is really great and very helpful.

My Mood: Points: 1,871.92 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,871.92 | Hi there!
I'm new too, and I just wanted to say hello. I, too, am a carb-craving fiend and am slowly trying to transition into a healthy lifestyle. I've already had a little ice cream today, so apparently I'm not doing too well! Oops!
Anyway, just wanted to welcome you and say that I am as eager to learn any tips/tricks to a successful, low-carb lifestyle as you are.
Cheers,
K |
