I was diagnosed in 2002, and then in 2004 I lost weight and PCOS went into hiding long enough for me to get pregnant and give birth to a beautiful miracle of a son.
My son is almost a year old, and I have gained back a significant amount of weight. In May of this year, I noticed my symptoms starting to creep back around. That was the last month I had a cycle. Everything is back. Full force.
I'm determined to lose weight so that my husband and I can try for a second little one. It is ridiculously difficult. It hurts to look pregnant and not actually be pregnant. And to make things even more.. interesting, I am going through PPD. Motivation is on the top of my list of have-nots right now, and unfortuanately, it's exactly what's needed to succeed in losing this weight.
I'm extremely grateful for my son. I realize there are many, many women who pray for the blessing of a child every day. I never want him to feel that I don't think he's enough. That's not the case at all.
PCOS is, in a word, frustrating. I'm grateful to have found a place to air my grievances and share experiences and emotions in dealing with the diagnosis and treatment, and the lifestyle changes that come along with both.
Welcome to SC! Congrats on your wonderful son and good luck and much babydust for ttc the next! You can do it! ((hugs))

Sorry to hear about your PPD. I had that too, and it made me feel so "nuts" because here I finally had this baby I'd been longing for, and I was so sad and crying much of the time. Thankfully my doc recognized what was happening to me and adjusted my prozac and that helped a lot. Hope you feel better soon cyster. I'm here if you need to talk.
Your baby is so sweet.
We had our first 2 without problems, then my PCOS zapped me and we ttc a third for 2 years before I finally got a diagnosis, and some metformin. I got pregnant on metformin. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it might be something that would help you.
Hugs and babydust cyster
Jenny

Yes! That's exactly how I feel. Guilty for feeling so down when this baby is all I wanted. My husband has been so supportive, and works 20 hours a week overtime to allow me to stay home with my son, because working full-time away from home was doing me in. I would come home and have no energy or emotion left for my baby. Things are better now, but the mood swings come and go. I definitely plan on talking to my doctor about adjusting meds, and I have heard wonderful things about metformin in regard to ttc, so I will bring that up, too when we get insurance back. : )
Congratulations on your beautiful family!! You guys are adorable!
Shelly,
I'm a SAHM too! Also a homeschooler. My hubby also works many many hours so i can be with the kids. I'm thankful for him doing that, I love being home with my kids.
I'm glad you'll be talking with your doc about your PPD. It's so very painful. I'm here if you ever want to talk! I took Prozac before and during my pregnancy, but the 20 mg was just not enough after Cora's birth. My doc bumped me up to 40 mg, which I stayed on until after her first b-day. It was the boost I needed, I felt so much better after that.
Met helped me a lot! More regular cycles, weight loss, and best of all (at least to me) pregnancy!
Hugs and babydust for Baby 2!
Jenny

Shelly, I certainly can understand your PPD. I do hope that you can get help ASAP...keep in mind that PCOS can also make you depressed...so the two are probably playing on each other. Get some prozac, get some met, asap, and hopefully, things will work out for you. How long til you get insurance?
(((HUGS)))
Your son is adorable, btw. He really is a sweet little love (I love that age!!! Wait. I love ALLLL the ages, lol). Being home with my dds is one of the best things in the world....I am another homeschooler (I know one of the pp ladies mentioned that she homeschools, too), and being at home with them just never ceases to be an incredibly challenging, yet completely rewarding experience. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
