I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago. I'm still trying to get the hang of living with this thing. Due to lack of insurance, I've been unmedicated for over a year. But, thankfully teachers get good insurance, so I'm headed off to the doc this morning for a pap and probably blood work and all that jazz.
Sometimes, I kick myself for not taking pcos seriously to begin with. If anyone should, I should. I watched my sister go through enough to know that this is serious business. I guess I always kind of denied that I had anything really wrong with me.
But, it's a new year, right? My cowboy is helping me. He's keeping me accountable with exercise and with my eating habits. He's even taking me to the doctor this morning--of course, I bribed him with a trip to his favorite Western Wear store (my doc is an hour away from me--about an hour and a half away from him). Seriously though, I'm so glad to have found this place. My sister is wonderful and it's great to be able to ask her whatever I need to, but to have a whole community of women who face the same thing is awesome.
