I have a religon newbie question I hope someone can help me with. I'm considering visiting a church for services and they have one service in the morning, then a "New Life Worship" in the evening. I'm just wondering that the difference may be. If it makes a difference it's a Presbyterian church.

I did a google search and there seems to be a lot of Presby churches with New Life in the title. I don't know what type it is, but it may be more casual like the Praise and Worship services some other denoms do. In those the service is usually geared toward younger crowds, has more upbeat music and people dress more casual. More computer/AV stuff is used in those services, also, with fewer traditional songs.
I would say the "New Life" service is probably more of a seeker service, as in geared for people new to the faith or to draw in people. (Probably less "theological" sermon, more praise songs rather than hymns, and drama or dance or bands or something). It can difficult for people new to the faith to get excited about traditional services. Also in a lot of bigger churches they provide two different kinds of services to meet the needs of the congregation.
I think you may have to call or go to find out more. Hope you enjoy it.

Neat, we're a "New Life" church, in that case. LOL Actually, we're Mennonite Brethren, but we don't do a lot of hymns (maybe one or two a month), and we have a full band most Sundays and use AV stuff instead of hymnals (for obvious reasons). We dress in jeans, too. I wouldn't say that we're geared toward a younger crowd, mind you. We're geared toward whomever walks in the door.
Didn't know that our kind of church style had a name.

Interestingly enough "Casual Worship" is intended for the younger set, but mostly the early services in our area draw in people born in the 1950s and 1960s instead of the 1970s and 1980s people. The Seeker Sensitive groups often draw in the younger crowd, but put it at 8 or 9am instead of 11am on Sundays and the Boomers usually fill the place up.
It could be for the "younger crowd." It's held at 6pm on Sunday nights. A good time for me but I'm not sure if I'd prefer a more traditional service. My dbf's sister and family attend a more "modern" service. Lots of worship songs, av etc like the previous posters stated. I don't really think that's what I'd like. Guess I'll just have to go find out. I'll let you know what I decide.
