Hi all and what a breath of fresh air to find this site

im 29 and have had symptoms for years but was too young/shy ? to find out more
i was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 yrs ago due to very heavy and long periods i think the longest was 14weeks !! and being very hairy upper lip chin breasts chest tummy it really is not nice most of the time i feel totally depressed and down i have put on weight too mainly around my tummy i have skinny legs and look pregnant !

I was sent to see a specialist and was fitted with the mirena coil it has stopped the blood flow but the pain is still as strong
i dont know where to turn i would love to loose the weight and hair I would gladly put up with the pain and heavy long periods just to feel like a woman again and loose the hair and huge tummy i have to shave EVERY day or the hair growth is so noticable
any help advice would be really gladly appreciated

Emily

Hey emilyangel

There are tons of good advice on this site just need to take a look around, the only advice I can really give regarding loosing the weight is try and get a diet buddie as a support to help you along

Hey emily,

I go to uni in London so live there most of the time, i ve recently been refered to an endocrinlogist at the royal free hampsteadand hes been really helpful finding ways to make my symptoms not so problematic. But at the end of the day the only way its going to get any less worse is through especially my weight problems is through healthy eating and exercise, alot of the girls on here are really helpful and give alot of useful advice and finding a diet buddy is a great idea for motivation and also finding a more realistic short term incentive to lose the weight is really useful also.

Good Luck and im always here for a chat.

welcome to sc

i have a mirena , too, which has helped to lessen my period pains/flow! I also have endometriosis, which causes pains, not saying that is what you have though

I take spironolactone for the hair, which does help. here is a link to the hair loss/growth
section for you
