MY NAME IS APRIL AND I'M 23 AND FOUND OUT I HAD PCOS ON OCT 25 2004. BUT I DONT REALLY KNOW WHAT IT IS OR HOW BAD PCOS IS. I DONT REALLY HAVE ANY SUPPORT BESIDES MY BEST FRIEND AND HUBBY. BUT I DONT LIKE TALKING TO THEM BECAUSE THEY DONT UNDERSTAND HOW I AM FEELING. SOMEDAYS I DONT REALLY THINK THAT HAVING PCOS IS THAT BIG A DEAL. AND OTHER DAYS I CRY ALL THE TIME ASKING "WHY". I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT I AM SUPPOSIT TO DO FOR TREATMENTS. MY DOC ONLY GAVE ME BIRTHCONTROL TO MAKE ME HAVE A PERIOD AND A PILL TO MAKE ME LOSE WEIGHT AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT MY INSULN RESTANCE. I HAVE A LOT OF OTHER THINGS HAPPING WITH MY BODY THAT I THINK SHOULD BE DELT WITH BUT MY DOC SAYS I DID NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IT. WELL I'M SORRY BUT I DONT LIKE HAVING FACIAL HAIR!!
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

Aprils~ welcome to soul cysters! there are a lot of women here that will be able to answer a lot of your questions as for the birth control It is my understanding that that only masks the real issues with pcos,(my understanding only i could be wrong)
What other pills has he given you? most women here take metformin/glughage(sp?) & that can help with weight loss & fertility!
Unfortunantly hair is sort of a givin with this stupid syndrome U can get pills that stop the hair growth I believe but there not safe to take if U want to become pg.
the best way to control pcos so they say is through diet & excersice.
I would do some research & find out all you can & inform yourself of everything you want to know cos unfortunantly some dr's have less of a clue than the average 5th grader when it comes to pcos!!

You can research articles on here & find lots of info!! best of luck to U & I'll see ya round!!!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. MY DOCTOR HAS ME ON METFORMIN 800 MG 3 TIMES A DAY. HE HAS GIVIN ME MEDROXYPROGESTERONE 10MG AND I HAD TO TAKE IT FOR 10 DAYS TO TRY AND BRING ON A PERIOD BUT IT DIDNT. THE LAST PERIOD I HAD WAS ON DEC 27TH OF LAST YEAR WHICH REALLY SUCKED CAUSE THATS MY B-DAY. I AKED HIM ABOUIT THE HAIR GROTH AND HE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT OR THE MASS AMOUNT OF ACNE I HAVE. ITS ALL OVER MY FACE,NECK,CHEST,ARMS AND UPEER THIGHS. THE HAIR IS GROWNING ON MY FAVE, CHEST, BELLY AND LOWER BACK. I DONT WANT TO SHAVE IT CAUSE I KNOW IT WILL GROW IN WORSE SO I USE NARE AND IT BURNS LIKE HELL. MY HUBBY TRIED\S TO CONFORT ME BUT ALL I DO IS YELL AT HIM AND TELL HIM HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND. I'M STARTING TO FELL LIKE A MAN WITH ALL THE HAIR. I WAS GLADE WHEN I FOUND THIS SITE, NOW I AM ABLE O TALK WITH WOMEN WHO UNDERSTAND HOW I AM FEELING. I DONT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT KID I HAVE MY TUBES TIED. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN MY DAUGET KERRY IS 5 AND MY SON JORDIN IS 3. I JUST WISH THERE WAS SOMTING MORE I COULD DO. AS FOR LOSING MY WEIGHT.... I HAVE BEEN DIETUING FOR 6 MONTHS AND EXERCISE EVERYDAY AND HAVE NOT LOST ANYTHING. I AM 5'9 AND WEIGH 235LBS. I JUST FEEL SO DEPRESSED ALL THE TIME.

What kind of diet are you on? My Mom exercises every day, and diets, but isn't on the IR or diabetic diet and is GAINING weight. She asked her doc today about it and he said, just keep exercising. I'm encouranging her to find a new doc.

There was a thread before about hair and regrowth, and the medical sights we looked at said shaving does not make things worse. I've shaved my feet for almost 15 years and used nair on it from time to time, and it's still jsut a few hairs, and no thicker or darker now than it was when i was 15. I don't use nair now, just gave up and shave every where except the hair between my eyes which i pluck. The belly hair I ignore. Check out the acne and hair threads on here to find out what other women do to help them.

I was 230 before I started my modified low-carb diet, and am one of the thinest PCOS women in my family.
