i was diagnosed with pcos in april of last year. as soon as i was diagnosed i began clomid and a low-dose steriod and was pregnant with twins within 3 months. i love my babies to death and want to get pregnant again within the next year but i really don't want another set of twins. i am on birth control now and am planning on going off in december, i've heard fertility drugs can stay in your system up to 2 years (don't know if thats accurate) so i figured i'd take advantage of that. i really want to get pregnant without fertility treatments but am not sure how to start? any suggestions? i'm seeing my primary doctor next week and am going to ask to be placed on metformin in hopes of getting my cycle alittle more controlled, even on birthcontrol i really don't get a period. should i be going to my gyno about all of this? i know i'll need to see him at some point before i get pregnant. the first time around i had alot of bloodwork done by my fertility specialist and he diagnosed me with a high PAI (dont' even know what that stands for) level. basically i was at higher risk for a blood clot so he put me on heparin immediately after conceiving. i honestly don't think my gyno knows much about pcos and i don't know if i can force him to put me on metformin or heparin once i'm pregnant for that matter. sorry i dont' know where i'm going with this. basically any suggestions about the best way to proceed would be great. i'm planning on temperature charting and using ovulation kits this time around but considering my temperature never seemed to be consistant the first time around i don't even know if that will help. i'll stop babbling now but any guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!
lol i wish i could help you more i was ognna suggest charting but i would go to ur dr and see what ur options are x
oh and welcome to sc xx

I haven't heard that about fertility meds staying in your system but I know lots of women who've used meds for the first and concieved on their own for the second. You might want to check out the TTC with blood disorders thread for help with the clotting issue. I'm sure they'd know more than the general group on that since they're experiencing it too. You'll find that in the TTC forum or use the search feature to find it.

I can only say that Fertility treatments never did work in my case but 2 months after being introduced to Metformin I was pregnant with my 1st daughter after over 14 years of TTC!!
My second daughter was conceived with no medical help at all!
Welcome to SC and Good Luck!
Welcome!! I've heard great things about Met and fertility. I don't have any personal experience with it but my Dr. does cartwheels for it!! hahaha-- sorry

Met - 2000mg, Norvasc 5 mg

One Furbaby --Freckles the Wonder Dog---
is now an AVATAR!!
I got pregnant on met, no other meds. 1500 mg daily. I was given met by my primary doctor, and it really helped me. If your gyn doesn't know much about your PCOS (and isn't trying to learn) I hope you can see a different one! You deserve good care.
Congratulations on your twins.
Hugs and babydust to you
Jenny
