My name is Martha, I am 42, and was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have had the symptoms for years, and even when I had a hysterectomy 2 and a half years ago, I was never told i had PCOS. I had a total of 5 fibroids..... the largest was softball size, and cyst on both ovaries. I also had cervicitis, so they removed my cervix as well to avoid a possibility of cancer later on.
I also recently found out I have Hashimoto's, which is an autoimmune hypothyroid disease. I have a couple of other autoimmune problems as well. I was going to my endo for the Hashi's, and mentioned to her that my sister was diagnosed with PCOS, so she decided to test me.
Two weeks ago at my last appointment, my blood glucose was 114, my A1C was 6.3 and my insulin level was 51...... so I was started on metformin for insulin resistance. I knew it was coming sooner or later though. My mother is diabetic, and so was my grandmother and half of her 12 brothers and sisters.

I am Hashi's, too. I was just diagnosed with PCOS at age 32, though I may have had symptoms since shortly after my son was born 6 years ago.
Good luck with your treatment and health!
